Route to Agra from Jharkhand
We chose to take a comfortable train journey from Jharkhand to Agra for Rs. 2500 per person for our brief two-day trip.

Places to visit in Agra
- Day 1: Taj Mahal Marvels
We easily travelled 5 kilometres from our hotel to the Taj Mahal in a quick auto-rickshaw ride. Our journey began at the crown jewel of Agra, the glorious Taj Mahal. With a reasonable entry fee of 50/- + 200/- additional for visiting the main mausoleum (optional), we were able to enter and experience this iconic symbol of love. Known for its stunning marble architecture and the timeless love story it represents, the Taj Mahal stands as a monument to India’s rich heritage. After admiring the beauty of the Taj Mahal, we walked through the lively markets nearby, indulging in delicious local street food.
- Day 2: Agra Fort Exploration
We took an auto rickshaw ride covering 7 kilometres from our hotel to Agra Fort. We visited this historic Agra Fort, adding another highlight to our trip. With a small entry fee, we were able to see the rich history enclosed within its walls. Agra Fort, known for its beautiful Mughal architecture and detailed design, gave us a peek into India’s regal history. Following our time at the fort, we walked through the nearby markets, enjoying more delicious street food treats.
Food to try in Agra
- Near the Taj Mahal, we had chaats, pethas, and kebabs, offering us a delightful experience.
- While seeing Agra Fort, we tried everything from spicy chaats to sweet jalebis. Agra’s street food scene offered a delightful variety.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to experience the wonders of Agra is during the winter months, from October to March when the weather is pleasant. In June and July, it’s too hot; at that time, you cannot enjoy the attractions of Agra.
Tips for travellers:
- Travellers are advised to see local markets, such as Kinari Bazaar, for handicrafts and souvenirs.
- To truly experience the authentic flavours of Agra, you can’t miss sampling street foods like pani puri and methi ki sabzi.
- Carry sunscreen, sunglasses, and both summer and winter clothes.
As we said goodbye to the beautiful city of Agra, we took with us not only memories of its amazing buildings but also a taste of its lively culture and delicious street food. We didn’t miss the famous Panchi Petha shop and also packed some to take home.
