Greetings, fellow wanderers! I, Harshit Dwivedi, am thrilled to share my recent one-day exploration of the mystical city of Varanasi, a realm steeped in the reverence of Lord Shiva and home to the sacred Jyoti Linga. Join me as I unfold the chapters of my journey through this divine land.
Embarking on the Spiritual Express:
My quest began in Sonpur, where I boarded a train that carried me away to the spiritual heart of India, Varanasi. The train ride, costing a mere 200 INR, set the tone for the adventure ahead.
Gastronomic Indulgence at Dashashwamedh Ghat:
The allure of Dashashwamedh Ghat beckoned me first. The scenic beauty of the ghat captivated my senses. After a long train journey, hunger pangs struck, and I decided to savor a local delicacy, “bati chokha,” right at the ghat. The flavors danced on my palate, setting the stage for the spiritual sojourn.
Divine Darshan at Kashi Vishwanath Temple:
A short stroll of 200 meters brought me to the renowned Kashi Vishwanath Temple, a sanctuary of peace and spiritual resonance. The Jyoti Linga, a symbol of divine energy, awaited my presence. Despite the sizable crowd, the three-hour wait for darshan was a testament to the devotees’ unwavering faith.
Cultural Pause at Sankat Mochan and Durga Mata Mandir:
Next on my pilgrimage was Sankat Mochan, a sacred site 2-3 kilometers away. Opting for a convenient auto-rickshaw ride (100 INR), I encountered a brief hurdle – the temple closure between 12 pm and 3 pm. Undeterred, I embraced the pause, witnessing the growing crowd and engaging in the spiritual aura.
A mere 400 meters away stood the Durga Mata Mandir, where divine blessings seamlessly merged with architectural elegance. With darshan completed, I retraced my steps to Dashashwamedh Ghat, eager for the enchanting evening aarti at 5:30 pm.
Aarti Enchantment at Dashashwamedh Ghat:
The ethereal spectacle of the evening aarti unfolded as the sun dipped below the horizon. The rhythmic chants, the flickering lamps, and the devout atmosphere created a profound connection with the divine. It was a spiritual crescendo that lingered in my heart.
Homeward Bound:
Post-aarti, I navigated the alleys back to the railway station, reaching my destination by 3 am. A solo day trip, while spiritually fulfilling, left me yearning for more.
