Hello, travel lovers! Sushant here!!!
My recent three-day duo trip to the serene hills of Nainital was a delightful getaway from the bustle of city life. Located in the Kumaon region of the Indian state of Uttarakhand, Nainital is a captivating hill station that, with its serene lakes, lush greenery, and mountain views, attracts us to travel.
3-day itinerary: places to visit in Nainital
- Day 1: G.B. Pant High-Altitude Zoo
Started at G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo, 3 km from the Green Roof Hotel. I paid Rs. 100 for entry and enjoyed a rickshaw ride. The zoo is known for conservation efforts for endangered species like the snow leopard and Himalayan bear. Stunning views of Nainital. Explored Mall Road Market and tried local street food.
- Day 2: Eco Cave Park
Day two took us to Eco Cave Park, 2 km from the hotel. Explored interconnected caves with a Rs. 150 ticket, each telling a geological story. The auto ride offered scenic views of this geological marvel. Afterwards, we walked through the Tibetan Market, known for its vibrant handicrafts, and enjoyed local street specialties.
- Day 3: Jim Corbett National Park
On the final day, we went on an outing to Jim Corbett National Park. It is famous for its rich biodiversity and tiger conservation efforts. With a Rs. 250 ticket, we can completely explore this wildlife place. A 70-kilometre train journey from Nainital took us to the boundaries of the national park. While exploring Jim Corbett, we enjoyed local street food from nearby.
Hidden Gem in Nainital: The Nanda Devi Festival
Don’t miss the Nanda Devi Fair in Nainital in September. It celebrates the goddess, Nanda Devi, the region’s protector, with colourful processions, traditional dances, and music. Locals dress in traditional attire, offering prayers. This is a great chance to experience the rich culture and traditions of the region.
The Best Hotel and Food in Nainital:
We discovered peace at the Green Roof Hotel, offering comfort at Rs. 2000 per night.
