Places to Visit in Mussoorie
Day 1: Exploring Nature’s Wonders-Kempty Falls and Benog Wildlife Sanctuary
We started our trip by going to the amazing Kempty Falls. These waterfalls are known for their flowing waters and the cool feeling of swimming in their clear pools. The falls were about 15 km away from Mussoorie, and we took an auto rickshaw ride to get there.
Later, we went to the peaceful Benog Wildlife Sanctuary, enjoying nature all around. It was about 11 Km from Kempty Falls, and we kept going in hired auto rickshaws. The sanctuary is famous for its plants and animals, giving us a calm break from the busy city. At lunchtime, we tried out a local market with tasty street food.
Day 2: Mussoorie’s Treasures- Gun Hill, Mall Road and Camel’s Back Road
Our second day in Mussoorie was full of fun adventures. We started by going to the famous Gun Hill, the second-highest peak in Mussoorie. It’s well-known for its breathtaking views of the Himalayas. We reached there by taking a thrilling cable car ride from the central area.
After that, we took a leisurely walk along the lively Mall Road, the main hub of Mussoorie. This delightful street is full of shops, restaurants, and buildings with a colonial touch. We spent hours buying souvenirs and enjoying local treats.
In the afternoon, we went to Camel’s Back Road, named after a rock that looks like a camel’s hump. The winding road gave us stunning Himalayan views, great for photos and relaxation.
Day 3: Exploring Mussoorie’s Heights: Lal Tibba, Mussoorie Lake and Cloud’s End
On our last day, we explored more of Mussoorie. First, we went to , the highest point, with stunning views of the Himalayas, including Badrinath aLal Tibband Kedarnath peaks. It was about 6 km from the centre, and we took an autorickshaw to get there.
Next, we visited the peaceful Mussoorie Lake, about 6 km from Lal Tibba. We had a great time boating in the clear waters and appreciating the beauty around us.
Our final stop was Cloud’s End, a peaceful place at the western end of Mussoorie, perfect for nature walks and birdwatching. It was around 7 km from Mussoorie, and we hired auto rickshaws for the ride.
The Best Accommodation and Food in Mussoorie
- We picked the lovely “Hill View Hotel” for our stay. The hotel provides cosy rooms with beautiful views of the hills. Situated in the heart of Mussoorie, it made it simple for us to explore the town and visit different attractions.
- Throughout our trip, we couldn’t resist trying delicious street food from local markets, including savoury chaats and sweet treats, especially hot momos and chaats.
The Best Time to Visit Mussoorie
The best time to visit Mussoorie is during the summer months, from March to June when the weather is pleasant and cool for sightseeing. Enjoying heavy snowfall from late December to February is the recommended time.
Tips for travellers
- Dress comfortably and in layers, as the weather can change quickly in the hills.
- Engage with the locals to learn more about their culture and traditions.
- Be respectful of nature and wildlife in the sanctuaries.
- Don’t miss trying the local street food, and stay hydrated.
With fond memories in our hearts and a camera roll filled with pictures, we say goodbye to Mussoorie. This place has truly shown us a glimpse of heaven on earth.
