Hello wanderlusts! Jotshna Tripathi is here. The hardest climb brings out the best in you. I realized this during the George Everest trek in Mussoorie, Dehradun—a famous trek. Though pictures can’t capture its true beauty, I’ve tried to give you a glimpse in my travel blog. Join me on the journey to the mountains of George Everest. To reach new heights, plan your trip to Mount Everest. It is a major tourist attraction just 4 km from Mussoorie, Queen of the Hills, known for camping, picnics, and adventure outings.
Route:
- Start from Dehradun Railway Station to Mussoorie Bus Stand. (approximately 35 km; takes 1 hour and 20 minutes)
- Hire a jeep or taxi from the Mussoorie bus stand for a visit to 3-6 points at a cost of around Rs. 2500–3000, as per their chart or payment terms.
- Trek from the base point to George Everest House.
- Book a taxi for George Everest Peak Point, Cloud Endpoint, and Temple Point.
Places to visit:
1. George Everest House and Laboratory
George Everest House is 6 km away from Gandhi Chowk, West Mall Road, Mussoorie. Sir George Everest’s House and Laboratory, also known as the Park Estate, was built in 1832. Traveling has become easier thanks to the Internet, which provides us with instant access to maps, translation apps, food services, taxi services, and other amenities that enhance the experience of traveling. Check out my vlog on YouTube and Instagram for videos of this and other scenic places. After reaching George Everest House, take a break, explore shops, and enjoy hot tea and Maggie, a special treat known as “pahadon wali chai and Maggie” during trekking. Don’t forget to capture these moments!
2. Trekking to George Everest Peak
The George Everest house is close to a route that leads to the George Everest peak, where you can carry on with your journey. Experience the trek to George Everest, an elevation of 2005m, in Mussoorie. Enjoy breathtaking views, meadows, and lush green mountains during the one-hour trek. The peak reveals itself with colorful threads flowing in the air, surrounded by fog and moisture. Lean towards the mountain, savoring the trekking destination. The picture shows me in a white top, heading towards the peak. The top offers solitude, a refreshing mountain breeze, and positive vibes. You’ll long to return and share your journey with others. Coming down will take less time, like rolling down and reaching George Everest House in an hour. Capture moments, enjoy the view, and head to the base in 20–30 minutes. From the Mussoorie bus stand, you can catch a taxi or car for the journey. The mountains are calling, and you must go!
I’ve booked a taxi for George Everest Peak, Cloud End Point, and Temple Point. The taxi covers all points except George Everest Peak, where you need to walk and explore.
Necessary things to pack:
- Identification (ID) documents
- Eatables for the trek
- Sufficient water

The best time to go on the George Everest Peak Trek
September to early November and March to May are the ideal times to hike to the top of George Everest. The hike route becomes impassable during the monsoon season due to excessive rains and during peak winter due to snowfall.
It’s a perfect spot for trekkers, adventure enthusiasts, and nature lovers. Remember, the view from George Everest is breathtaking and worth the climb. Enjoy your journey and share your experiences with others!
