My friends and I took a fun trip from Banda to Orchha, a city full of history and beautiful buildings. Join my incredible 2-day group trip to Orchha’s heritage. Located in the heart of Madhya Pradesh, Orchha is a small town overflowing with ancient temples, palaces, and forts that are worth seeing.
Route to Orchha
The train tickets were affordable, costing only Rs. 500 per person. We were excited to explore ancient temples and impressive forts and experience the lively local culture.
Accommodation in Orchha
We stayed at Hotel Gomti Palace, paying 1200 INR per night for a comfortable and relaxing stay in Orchha.
Must-visit attractions in Orchha
- Day 1: Spiritual visit at Chaturbhuj Temple: The adventure began with a visit to the sacred Chaturbhuj Temple by auto, where entry tickets were for Rs. 50. The temple is famous for its unique architecture and spiritual importance, giving them a peaceful start to their journey. This temple is dedicated to Lord Rama and is famous for its towering spires. Explore the temple complex and witness the stunning architecture and religious rituals. Take a moment to appreciate the stunning stone carvings and the peaceful ambience inside. After exploring the temple, we enjoyed exploring the local markets and trying out delicious street food like kachoris and jalebis.
- Day 2: Majestic Orchha Fort: On the second day, we visited the magnificent Orchha Fort, where the entry fee was only Rs. 100. The fort, a reminder of Orchha’s royal history, provided stunning views of the area. We took a short train ride from Chaturbhuj Temple to the fort, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. After exploring the fort, we spent time in the markets nearby, buying souvenirs and enjoying tasty street food like samosas and chaats.
Hidden Gem in Orchha
- Jahangir Mahal: This stunning palace was built in the 17th century and is a perfect example of Mughal architecture. Admire the intricate carvings, beautiful balconies, and panoramic views from the top.
- Raj Mahal: The Raj Mahal is another architectural gem that showcases the artistic skills of the ancient era. Marvel at the beautiful frescoes that depict scenes from the Ramayana and other mythological tales.
Best Time to Visit Orchha
Orchha experiences extreme temperatures, so it’s best to visit during the cooler months of October to March. This will ensure a comfortable and enjoyable trip.
Tips for travellers
- Plan and arrange accommodation, transportation, and activities early to avoid last-minute problems.
- Orchha can get quite hot, especially during the summer months. Stay hydrated by carrying water bottles with you.
- Wear light and breathable clothing.
As I said goodbye to Orchha’s amazing buildings and cultural gems, we took with them memories of its ancient beauty. Our trip was a wonderful mix of spirituality, history, and tasty treats, leaving them all captivated by Orchha’s timeless charm.
