Beginning an Adventure: Hello fellow wanderers, I am Mukul a travel enthusiast, my soul was driven by wanderlust to go on an astonishing solo journey in the verdant interior of India. I set out on a quest to find the Kolukkumalai’s buried treasure with the zeal of a curious traveller. Kolukkumalai is a tranquil village that is embraced by the Bodinayakanur Taluk of Tamil Nadu.
Embracing the Magic Above the Clouds
:
Kolukkumalai exhibited the tallest tea plantations in the world from well above the skies. The tea leaves received a soft kiss from the mountain breeze, which gave them a flavor and freshness that can only be found at such elevations. The beauty of enchanting sunrises and sunsets, painting the sky in hues of gold and pink, called out to my adventurous spirit, beckoning me to explore this magical land.
Travel route: The 1.5 km-long ascent passes past the tallest tea farm in the world. Embark on a captivating journey from Bangalore to the enchanting Kolukkumalai Summit, starting with a 480-kilometer travel to Munnar, Kerala. From Munnar, venture 32 kilometers further to Suryanelli, your gateway to Kolukkumalai. Here, hire a sturdy jeep for a thrilling 2-hour ride through rugged terrains. Upon reaching the drop-off point, embark on a 1.5-kilometer trek through the world’s highest tea plantation. Exercise caution, especially during monsoons, as you navigate this relatively easy yet awe-inspiring trail, taking approximately 30-45 minutes to reach the summit.
Best Time to Visit:
Kolukkumalai is open all year round, except for when it rains a lot. Depending on which is more appealing to you, sunrise or sunset both offer breathtaking views of the famed Tiger-faced Rock near to the Sunrise Viewpoint.
Travel Essentials: When selecting your gear for a big, important trip, be cautious! Since there are no mobile networks at the peak, you’ll also need to bring enough cash, sturdy climbing boots, a reusable water bottle, and thick clothing.
Dining: You may easily book hotels and vacation rentals in the adjacent city of Suryanelli online. Make use of the locals to book your jeep trip and enhance your experience. Don’t pass up the chance to try Kerala Parotta, a delicious delicacy you can find at the nearby restaurants, with exquisite vegetarian or non-vegetarian curries.
Conclusion: A trip into the heart of nature’s beauties, a solo journey to Kolukkumalai is more than just a trip. The joy of seeing the highest tea plantations in the world and the thrill of completing the journey will live forever in your heart.
