- Also, you can take a cab. The minimum time taken by a cab from Dehradun is 1 hour and 17 minutes.
Places to visit in Mussoorie:
- Iconic Mall Road: Excited to explore, I quickly headed out to uncover Mussoorie’s treasures. My first destination was the famous Mall Road—a lively street with local shops, eateries, and a vibrant market. The air was filled with the tempting smell of local treats. I couldn’t resist trying momos and soup from a charming stall that instantly won me over. As the sun set, I took a relaxed walk on Mall Road. The distant mountains glowed with the warm colors of twilight, creating a serene moment that connected me to the heart of Mussoorie.
- George Everest: The next day brought more adventures as I checked out George Everest, rich in history and surrounded by breathtaking views. The Dalai Hills, with their peaceful surroundings, provided a perfect contrast, offering a quiet retreat to reflect and soak in the beauty of nature.
- Company Garden: The Company Garden, with its colorful flowers and neatly trimmed lawns, invited me to enjoy a leisurely afternoon surrounded by beauty. The tranquil atmosphere and the natural symphony provided the perfect backdrop for moments of reflection and rejuvenation.
Best Accommodation in Mussoorie:
In Mussoorie, I stayed at Zostel, a budget-friendly spot charging only Rs. 800 a day. It wasn’t just a comfy place; it also had a lively community of fellow travelers. The cozy vibe and friendly atmosphere at the hostel made my stay truly memorable.
Best Food to Try in Mussoorie:
Throughout my journey, I couldn’t help but indulge in the local cuisine, especially the delectable momos and soup from the Mall Road stall. The flavors and spices tantalized my taste buds and added an extra layer of delight to the overall experience.
Best time to visit Mussoorie:
The summer months of April through mid-July are the finest times to visit Mussoorie since the weather is perfect for sightseeing. The busiest time of year in Dehradun and Mussoorie is also this one. For a stunning vista of the Himalayas shrouded in mist, September to mid-November is another ideal season to visit Mussoorie.
I went in October and found out it was truly the best time for stunning views. The cool air and the autumn colors worked like magic, enchanting the entire landscape.
Necessary things to pack:
- Carrying basics like a shawl, water bottle, and snacks turned out to be a smart move, especially for those heading into the hills.
- I also stressed the value of a raincoat, making sure my exploration remained hassle-free even in unpredictable weather, especially during the monsoon season.
Travel tips:
- Zostels or hostels aren’t just affordable but also great for making connections with fellow adventurers.
- Talking to the locals was a trip highlight. Their tips led me to hidden gems, adding authenticity to my adventure. The warmth and camaraderie of the local community made it even more enriching.
