Greetings, wanderers! Adarsh here is your travel buddy. With my friend, I decided to go on a quick two-day trip to the beautiful landscapes of Manipur. It is known as “Jewel Land.” Manipur lies in northeastern India.

Places to visit in Manipur
- Keibul Lamjao National Park: On Day 1, we started our exploration with a visit to the renowned Keibul Lamjao National Park, which stands as the sole floating park globally. After a 20 km ride from the auto, we reached the park and took a ticket. Catching the sight of the deer in this distinctive wetland environment is essential for any wildlife enthusiast. Other creatures you might encounter include hog deer, otter, various waterfowl, and migratory birds, typically seen from November to March.
- Loktak Lake: On day one, we continued our journey to Loktak Lake, famous for its floating circular swamps, which are called phumdis in the local tongue. The lake invites tourists from far and wide for its supernatural beauty.. Visit Sendra for a bird’s-eye view of the lake. Witness unique scenes of fishermen on floating islands (Phumdis) in floating huts (Phumsangs). Also, the popular Sendra Tourist Home with a cafeteria is a must visit. Enjoy boating and water sports at Takmu Water Sports Complex.
- Singda Dam: Day two started with a visit to Singda Dam, the highest mud dam in the world. The reasonably priced tickets facilitated their exploration of the dam’s beauty. The 15 km journey was smooth, seamlessly covered entirely by autos. Kangla Fort, Phayeng Hei-yu Park, and Shri Govindajee Temple are all neighbouring sights. Leaving Manipur, we fondly remembered the rich experiences and delicious local street food.

A walk through the local markets, indulging in Manipur’s delicious street food, including Eromba and Pakoras. Also, try Phiroi to Chak-hao Kheer; Manipur’s culinary delights added a flavorful touch to their journey.

Explore Manipur’s beauty from October to March, when the weather is pleasant. We smoothly travelled to attractions using autos for a seamless experience.
Hidden Gem in Manipur: Ima Keithel & Moreh Tamu International Market
For people who love shopping, Ima Keithel Market in Imphal is run entirely by women for local fabrics and handicrafts. Explore Moreh Tamu International Market at the Indo-Myanmar border for crafts, fruits, veggies, and unique snacks. Must-buy items in Manipur include phaneks, pottery, blackware, and native jewellery and handicrafts.

Leaving Manipur, we carried not just memories but also a deep sense of peace and wonder for its natural beauty. Our two-day adventure proved the serenity and charm that Manipur offers to every traveller.
