Welcome Readers,
Devarshi here— I’m a travel enthusiast and would love to share my 4-day spontaneous trip to Mumbai. Despite booking our flight tickets just a day before, the experience was worth it. Join us as we explore the vibe of the city and how chaotic and beautiful everything is.
Route to Go:
We booked our early morning flights from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai.
And let’s come with me to see the best places to visit in Mumbai
Day 1: Juhu Beach, Bandra Fort, Bandra Bandstand, and Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount
After an early morning flight, we dropped off our bags at the hotel and took a stroll on Juhu Beach. A wholesome breakfast at a nearby thela (food cart) fueled us for the day. Later, we had lunch at the delightful ‘BAYLEAF’ Café.
After lunch, we took a rickshaw to Bandra for a day filled with exploration. Then I visited Bandra Fort with a stunning view of the Sea Link, enjoyed Bandra Bandstand, and found peace at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount. It was my first time visiting the church, and the silence there just made me so calm and happy. In return, we headed to Prithvi Café for dinner, enjoyed an evening snack, went to Juhu Beach for the sunset, played, took photos, stayed until 7:30, and had bhaji pav on our way back.
Day 2: Taj Hotel, Urban Art Festival, Colaba Causeway, and Marine Drive
We visited the famous Taj and Gateway of India for my friends, even though I had seen them on a previous trip to Mumbai. Later, we visited the ‘Urban Art Festival’ at Sassoon Dock, which required masks due to the fish preparation area. Colaba Causeway treated us to street shopping and delicious street food for lunch. The day ended with a mesmerizing sunset at Marine Drive and a visit to the ‘Pizza By the Bay,’ which was okay and a little expensive. However, ‘Rustom’s Ice Cream’ compensated for the evening, and we spent the night soaking in the sights at Marine Drive.
Day 3: Kalaghoda, Hill Road, and NMIMS Road
Our plan for the day centers around Kala Ghoda, so going there by local train can be an option. After a visit to the ‘Poetry’ café for well-known pasta, we headed to Hill Road through Sea Link for more street shopping. After returning to the hotel, we freshened up and headed to NMIMS Road for some delicious street food—dosa, vada pav, shakes, and more. It turned out to be a great feast!
Day 4: Bidding farewell by visiting ISKCON and Juhu
On our last day, we visited ISKCON and Juhu. After that, we were on our way to the airport and went back home.
Best Accommodation and Food in Mumbai:
We chose a hotel situated in the prime location of Juhu to cut costs. Opting to share a single room among the four of us made the experience even more enjoyable.
Cafes must try in Mumbai :
- ‘BAYLEAF’ Café
- Prithvi Café
- Pizza by the Bay
- Rustom’s Ice-cream
- Poetry Café (known for Pasta)
- NMIMS road
Tips for travelers:
- While we enjoyed our trip, we regret not exploring the city’s nightlife and clubs. If you plan to go out at night, ensure you have enough energy for the experience.
- Moreover, for hassle-free street shopping, carry ample cash.
- Staying hydrated is important, especially when exploring in the heat.
- If heat bothers you, January–February is a great time to visit Mumbai.
- Lastly, travel by local transport instead of relying solely on Uber.
- For good food, ensure your wallet is full, as cafes can be a bit pricey; otherwise, street food is just beyond everything.
Necessary things to pack:
- Wet wipes and a scarf will aid in protecting yourself from the heat and the wind.
- A shoulder bag will make your shopping hassle-free.
- A water bottle is always needed to stay hydrated.
