The train ride, costing just Rs. 800 per person, paved the way for a journey filled with nature’s beauty and historical treasures.
Places to visit in Jabalpur
- Dhuandhar Waterfall:
On day one, the adventure began with a visit to the amazing Dhuandhar Waterfall, where the ticket cost only Rs. 30. The waterfall, known for its mist from the Narmada River, was truly breathtaking. We easily travelled from the train station to the waterfall with rickshaws and autos.
- Chausath Yogini Temple:
On the second day, we visited the ancient Chausath Yogini Temple, with a ticket costing just Rs. 20. The Chausath Yogini Temple, also called Ekattarso Mahadeva Temple, is an ancient temple in the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. It was built in the 11th century during the Kachchhapaghata rule and is one of the best-preserved Yogini temples in the country. The temple’s circular design was fascinating and gave off a mystical vibe.
Famous food in Jabalpur
- After checking out the waterfall, we indulged in delicious street food like bhutte ka kees and poha in Jabalpur.
- On the second day, after our temple visit, we treated ourselves to street snacks like samosas and jalebis.
Best Time to Visit Jabalpur
The ideal time to explore Jabalpur’s wonders is during the winter months, from October to March when the weather is cool and pleasant.
Tips for travellers
- Visit after the monsoon for the best views; avoid the rainy season.
- I choose to travel with local modes of transportation for a more immersive experience.
- You can also choose to stay overnight at the forest guest houses for a full jungle experience.
- Have fun with a boat ride on the Narmada River at the famous Bhedaghat and also at Bargi Dam.
