Beginning an Adventure: Kerala is a beautiful state located in the southwestern part of India, often referred to as “God’s Own Country” due to its stunning natural beauty and diverse landscapes. Kerala is known for its high literacy rate and quality education system. It has some of the best schools and universities in India.
Hi fellow travellers, I am Ayush and along with my friends we kicked off our adventure in Kochi, Kerala’s coastal gem.
Day 1: Coastal Breezes and Shopping Delights in Kochi
The breezy Marine Drive (imagine a palm-fringed promenade overlooking the Arabian Sea) set the perfect tone, while the iconic Lulu International Shopping Mall (India’s largest!) beckoned with endless shopping aisles (entry at a nominal fee). A comfortable auto ride whisked them past Kochi’s colorful streets to Lulu Mall, where local markets offered street food treats like Kathi rolls and aromatic Malabar biryani.
Day 2: History Whispers and Island Charms
Day two delved into Kerala’s rich heritage. The Hill Palace Museum (housing royal treasures, accessible with a small ticket fee) whispered stories of ancient kings. Next stop: Willingdon Island, a historic gem connected by a 30-kilometer auto ride, offering stunning waterfront views and maritime activities. Local markets brimmed with traditional crafts, while street food delights like Appam with stew and crispy banana fritters fueled their exploration.
Day 3: Wildlife Wonders in Thiruvananthapuram
A scenic train journey (around 500-600 INR) carried us to Thiruvananthapuram, where the enchanting Zoological Park (nominal entry fee) awaited. The 200-kilometer train ride revealed Kerala’s lush landscapes, adding to the anticipation. After exploring the diverse wildlife, local markets tempted them with Kappa and Meen Curry, a local fish curry delicacy.
Day 4: Entertainment Extravaganza in Thiruvananthapuram
Get ready for some fun! Day four saw the group unleash their inner child at Magic Planet (reasonable ticket cost), an amusement park brimming with thrilling rides and games. A short rickshaw ride covered the 15-kilometer journey. Local markets kept the smiles going with street food like Pazham Pori (sweet banana fritters) and refreshing Coconut Ice Cream.
Day 5: Artistic Odyssey and Culinary Feasts
The final day celebrated Kerala’s artistic spirit. The Sri Chitra Art Gallery (nominal entry fee) showcased mesmerizing paintings and sculptures, leaving the group awestruck. A short auto ride concluded their artistic journey. As farewells approached, local markets offered one last culinary hurrah with Puttu (steamed rice cakes) and Kadala Curry (chickpea curry).
