Hey there, I’m Vaidehi Garg, a mountain girl at heart, born and raised in the bustling city of Delhi. Recently graduated in journalism and mass communication from Solan, Himachal Pradesh, my passion for travel journalism has ignited a flame within me. Join me as I share the exhilarating details of my recent escapade to the picturesque realms of Manali and Kasol.
A Dream Unfolds: Setting the Scene
It was a crisp winter morning when I decided to heed the call of the mountains, longing to witness the ethereal beauty of snow-capped peaks. Having graduated in June, I yearned to return to the serene landscapes of Himachal, a region I hold close to my heart. With an insatiable thirst for adventure and a desire to embark on my maiden solo journey, I set forth on a 4-night, 5-day expedition to Manali and Kasol.
Manali: A Warm Welcome Amidst Snowy Vistas
Departing from Delhi’s bustling Kashmiri Gate ISBT on the night of February 21st, I embarked on an 11-hour bus journey to Manali, eagerly anticipating the breathtaking sights that awaited me. Despite a slight delay due to the ongoing farmers’ protests, I arrived in Manali, greeted by the warm embrace of the majestic mountains. Nestled in the heart of New Manali, my sanctuary for the next three nights awaited me – The Trip House, a charming abode I discovered on Airbnb.

As I stepped into The Trip House, enveloped by the aroma of freshly brewed chai and the crackling warmth of a welcoming hearth, I knew I had found my home away from home. Owned by a gracious family, this newly built property exudes warmth and hospitality at every turn. The delectable home-cooked meals served by the owner’s mother-in-law added a touch of homeliness to my stay, while the cosy ambiance and breathtaking views left me spellbound.
Exploring Old Manali: A Gastronomic Adventure
Venturing into the quaint lanes of Old Manali, I embarked on a culinary odyssey, sampling the local delicacies that adorned the vibrant streets. From piping hot momos at Lazy Dog to soul-satisfying meals at Maa Hadimba Devi Dhaba, each bite was a symphony of flavours, a testament to the region’s rich culinary heritage. As dusk descended upon the town, I retreated to the warmth of my sanctuary, bidding farewell to the day’s adventures.
Atal Tunnel: A Marvel of Engineering and Natural Beauty
Rising with the dawn, I embarked on an exhilarating journey to Atal Tunnel, a testament to human ingenuity amidst nature’s grandeur. Renting a sturdy Himalayan bike, my friend and I embarked on a thrilling ride, traversing the winding roads that led us to this architectural marvel. As we crossed the threshold of the tunnel, we were greeted by panoramic vistas and cascading waterfalls, a sight to behold for eternity.
Hidimba Devi Temple: A Sanctuary of Serenity
Amidst the snow-kissed landscapes of Manali, I sought solace in the tranquil embrace of Hidimba Devi Temple, a sacred abode steeped in myth and legend. As I wandered through the hallowed halls, surrounded by ancient cedar forests and snow-laden peaks, I felt a profound sense of peace wash over me, a moment of communion with the divine.
Kasol: A Retreat into Nature’s Embrace
Leaving behind the enchanting vistas of Manali, I embarked on the next leg of my journey to the idyllic hamlet of Kasol, nestled in the verdant valleys of Parvati. Arriving at Parvati Laps Hostel in Lapaas Village, I was greeted by breathtaking views and rustic charm. Despite the arduous trek to reach the property, the promise of serenity and seclusion beckoned me forth.
