I took a calm train journey from Delhi, which cost Rs.500 per person. Arriving in Haridwar, I felt welcomed by the city’s holy atmosphere. Haridwar is a special place because it’s where the holy river Ganga enters the plains of North India for the first time. That’s why its old name, ‘Gangadwara,’ fits perfectly.
Accommodation in Haridwar
I planned to stay at the Nature Paradise Homestay for Rs.1000 per night, enjoying its simple comforts. This Homestay is located near Mansa Devi Temple (1.4 km) and Har Ki Pauri (1.5 km), as well as The Pentagon Mall (7 km). Each room has a terrace and a desk, and Jolly Grant Airport is 27 km away. The rooms are clean, hygienic, and soundproof for a peaceful holiday experience. Each room features a double bed, basic amenities, and an attached washroom with 24/7 hot and cold water.

- Day 1: Worship at Har Ki Pauri
On the first day, I visited the holy Har Ki Pauri, where a Rs.50 ticket allowed him to experience the divine Ghat. Har Ki Pauri is famous for its ‘Ganga Aarti’ held every evening, It is a respected spot where the river Ganges blesses the land. I easily reached the Ghat from the homestay, about 2 Km away, by taking an auto-rickshaw. The day continued with a walk through lively markets offering spiritual items and tasty street food. Yash particularly enjoyed local favourites like Aloo Puri and Jalebi, making the experience memorable.

- Day 2: Seeking Blessings at Maa Mansa Devi
On the second day, I went to seek the blessings of Maa Mansa Devi. The ticket for the cable car ride to the temple cost Rs.120, offering an enchanting experience. Maa Mansa Devi Temple, located in Bilwa Parvat, is famous for granting devotees’ wishes. I travelled about 5 Km to the cable car station by rickshaw. After receiving blessings, we explored markets with intricate handicrafts and had delicious street food. Also, I treated him to a local favourite, chole bhature, for a satisfying meal.
