My solo adventure began in June with a scenic journey to Nainital. The weather was perfect, with floating clouds and a picturesque lake surrounded by hills. After checking into my hotel, Happy Home, for ₹3800 per night. Also, I set out to explore the local area.
How to reach Nainital:
At 9:00 PM, board the CSMT Express Second AC from Jhansi to New Delhi, costing ₹950. Arrive in New Delhi and catch the 6:00 AM Kathgodam Shatabdi to Kathgodam, with CC class tickets costing ₹862. From Kathgodam, take a shared taxi to Nainital for ₹200.
Day 1: Exploring Nainital
Boating on Nainital Lake was the first highlight; it was a serene experience, and I opted for a full lake round at ₹320.
Post-boating, I rented a scooter for ₹600 per day and headed to Snow View Point. The 360-degree view from there was spectacular. I enjoyed some “Phadon Ki Maggi” and tea at the Snow View Point café for ₹50 each. I then spent the evening strolling along Mall Road and Bada Bazar, indulging in hot chocolate, cakes from Mamus Bakery (₹50-400), and a satisfying dinner.

Day 2: Khurpatal and Naina Devi Temple
On the second day, I explored Khurpatal, a peaceful spot about an hour’s ride from Nainital. After soaking in the tranquillity, I visited the Naina Devi Temple, a serene pilgrimage site. The afternoon was spent wandering through the local market, where I picked up some souvenirs. I also enjoyed street food, including aloo paratha at Chaudhary (₹50) and tea (₹20), which added a local touch to my journey.
Day 3: A Day of Scenic Wonders Hidden Gem of Nainital
The third day was dedicated to exploring the nearby attractions. I started early, heading to Bhimtal, where I enjoyed a boat ride around the serene lake for ₹320. Next, I visited Lovers Point and Suicide Point, both offering breathtaking views of the valleys. The Governor’s House was another highlight, showcasing colonial architecture, followed by a visit to the City Church, a quaint and peaceful place.
Day 4: Thrills and Final Explorations of Nainital
On my final day, I embarked on some thrilling activities. I started with a visit to Echo Cave, where the entry fee was ₹50. I tried ziplining for₹100, which was an exhilarating experience. Also, while zip-cycling at Snow View Point is ₹150. Later, I went paragliding, costing between ₹1200-1800 depending on the height and time. Also, with digital photos and videos adding an extra ₹600. The views from above were absolutely unforgettable. I ended my day with some last-minute shopping and a relaxing evening in Nainital before heading back.
Return Journey from Nainital
For your return journey, use a taxi costing ₹200 per person and reach Kathgodam by 2:30 PM. Then, at 3:00 PM, board the NDLS Shatabdi from Kathgodam to Hazrat Nizamuddin, arriving at 8:35 PM for ₹950. Finally, take the Dakshin Express from Delhi to Jhansi at 10:55 PM in 3A class, costing ₹740.
Nainital Dining Delights:
I enjoyed various dining spots during my trip. First, at The Mughals, I had butter chicken for ₹250. Next, Chaudhary served tea for₹20 and aloo paratha for₹50. Then, the Snow View Point Cafe offered Maggi for ₹50. Following that, at Mamu’s Bakery, cakes and pastries ranged from₹50 to₹400. Additionally, Gullu ki Chai had dry thukpa for₹120 and mutton dumplings for₹70. Finally, I enjoyed hot chocolate for ₹50.

- When renting a scooter, ensure you get a receipt and clarify the return time to avoid misunderstandings. Wearing a helmet is crucial, as fines can be hefty.
