Nestled in the Himalayas, it’s a serene paradise waiting to be explored. Come along on a five-day adventure to this picturesque Himalayan town, surrounded by lush forests, sparkling lakes, and majestic snow-capped peaks.
Indore to Nainital: A Scenic Journey
We set off from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, heading to Nainital via NH47. The 1000-kilometre journey took us through Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, offering stunning views along the way. Round-trip fuel costs totaled around Rs. 12,000, depending on the vehicle’s fuel efficiency and current fuel prices.

- Naini Lake: Surrounded by seven lush-green hills, Naini Lake offers paddle and motor boats, along with yachts. You can also take a walk along the promenade and soak up the calm environs.

- Tiffin Top: Also called Dorothy’s Seat, named after the renowned painter Kellet Dorothy, this vantage point offers stunning, picture-perfect views of Nainital.
- Naina Devi Temple: The temple stands where Devi Sati’s eyes fell after her body was cut into 51 pieces by Lord Vishnu. You can see the whole town of Nainital from the temple, which is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Eco Cave Gardens: The six natural caves in Nainital have been turned into a lovely public garden where you can explore the local flora and fauna. Check out popular caves like Panther, Tiger, Bat, Apes, and Flying Fox. Don’t miss the hanging gardens around the caves.
Revealing Hidden Treasures: Pangot and Sattal’s Serene Charms
We found Pangot, a tranquil village surrounded by oak and rhododendron forests, ideal for birdwatching and nature walks. Also, Sattal, with its seven interconnected lakes, offered serene vibes and opportunities for boating and picnicking.

Nainital welcomes visitors year-round, but the optimal time to experience its charm is from March to June. Also, winter brings heavy snowfall, transforming the town into a picturesque wonderland and attracting many during Christmas and the New Year.
