Hello, I’m Prashant Sharma, a keen traveller from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. I just had an amazing solo trek to the breathtaking Harihar Fort near Nashik, and I’m excited to share the thrilling details of my journey with you. One of the greatest treks in Maharashtra is the Harihar Trek, often called the Harihar Fort Trek.
Inspired by a love for exploration, I ventured on a journey to beat the challenging tracks of Harihar Fort and savour the beauty of the Sahyadri range.
The Route to Nashik:
My journey began with an AC Volvo bus ride from Vapi’s old bus stand to Nashik. From Nashik, I opted for a self-driven car rental for the next two days, a reliable companion for exploring the scenic routes leading to Harihar Fort.
About Harihar Fort Trek :
Starting the trek at 9 AM, the track unfolded with each step. The Harihar Fort trek was a mild challenge, taking about 1.5 hours one way. The view from the summit was breathtaking, rewarding the trekker with a sense of achievement and dramatic views.
Nearby Location of Harihar Fort :
Other popular locations are :
- Anjaneri
- Kalsubai
- Bramhagiri
- Sandhan Valley
- Dhodap
- Ratangad Fort
Best Time for the Climb and Visit Harihar Fort Trek :
I picked November to March for the trek, ensuring a moderate climate and avoiding the rainy season challenges. It makes the trek a peaceful adventure during these months.
Best Accommodation & Culinary Food Delights in Nashik:
Booking a hotel in Nashik was strategic, as there were no accommodations near the fort. For budget travellers, an economical option was staying in a village near the trek starting point, providing an authentic experience for just 1500₹ for two days.
Back in Nashik, I enjoyed the local flavours- Dosa and vada pav were the go-to choices, offering a taste of the region’s culinary richness.
Necessary Things to pack :
I ensured to pack all necessary items as the hike required preparation:
- Pack a stainless steel water bottle and chocolates for quick energy.
- Carry a cap to shield against the sun.
- Keep sunscreen to protect the skin during the sunny October morning.
Travel Tips :
- Wear a cap and apply sunscreen, particularly if trekking before December.
- Carry essentials such as water, dry fruits, or a protein bar to stay energised during the trek
Planned a group trip of three people, the perfect number for shared experiences. The budget-friendly package of 15k per person covered everything—food, stay, and transportation. My trek to Harihar Fort was more than a physical challenge; it was a journey of self-discovery and a celebration of nature’s wonders.
Happy Travel !!!
