Hazrat Nizamuddin to the Himalayan Haven of Dehradun

We took a midnight train from Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin station and arrived in Dehradun at 6 AM. Also, our hotel, Kamla Palace, was 3 km from the station and cost 1700 INR per night. Moreover, we checked in, freshened up, had breakfast, and started our adventure.

Robber’s Cave, FRI, and Sahastradhara: A Dehradun Day 1

We started our day with Robber’s Cave, or Guchhupani, a natural cave formation with a river flowing inside, located about 8 km from the city centre. Also, walking through the cool waters was a thrilling experience, and we took some amazing photos, mesmerised by the natural beauty.
After a delicious meal at a nearby restaurant, we headed to the Forest Research Institute (FRI), about 5 km from Robber’s Cave. Moreover, the stunning architecture, vast campus, lush green lawns, and museum exhibits on forestry were fascinating. The entry fee was 25 INR per person, and we spent a few hours exploring and learning about various trees and forests.
In the evening, we visited Sahastradhara, located around 15 km from FRI. Likewise, the name means ‘thousand-fold spring’, and we enjoyed the cool sulfur springs and beautiful waterfalls, as well as some delicious local street food, including pakoras and momos.
Serenity and Spirituality in Dehradun on Day 2 :

The next day, we visited the Mindrolling Monastery in the morning, about 9 km from our hotel. As one of the largest Buddhist centres in India, its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful gardens, and stunning Buddha statue left us in awe.
Also, we spent time meditating and soaking in the serene vibes. In the evening, we went to Tapkeshwar Temple, approximately 8 km from the monastery. Moreover, this temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is set inside a cave with a natural spring. Likewise, the spiritual energy was palpable, giving us a deep sense of peace and devotion. The surrounding scenery was also very beautiful.

The next day, we started with a hearty breakfast at a local eatery before heading to Malsi Deer Park, located around 10 km from our hotel.
This mini-zoo, featuring a variety of animals, especially deer, was well-maintained and perfect for a morning walk. The entry fee was 20 INR per person, and we enjoyed watching the deer and other animals.
