5-Day Itinerary for LEH-LADAKH: Things to Do
- Day 1: After reaching Leh we settled into our hotel, Hotel Jeevanam Villa. We spent the day getting used to the high altitude. We also attended a briefing on staying hydrated and avoiding outside food.
- Day 2: The next day after a hearty breakfast we set out to explore Leh, beginning with the iconic Shanti Stupa. Also, we then toured the Hall of Fame, the Patthar Sahib Gurudwara, and the meeting point of the Zanskar and Indus rivers. In the evening, we wandered through Leh Market, enjoying local treats and picking up souvenirs.
- Day 3: The real adventure started when we packed for a four-day trip, leaving extra stuff at our hotel. We began a 6-7-hour drive to Nubra Valley, crossing the Khardung La Pass and having fun with ATV rides on the dunes. Also, at night we stayed in a camp, sharing stories and enjoying dinner around a bonfire with our fellow travellers.
- Day 4: We woke up to the amazing sight of snow-covered mountains and set off for Thang, the final village in India. The journey was a treat for the eyes, with a river running beside us and mountains in all sorts of colours. We also chatted with locals, tasted the most delicious apples, and then headed back to where we were staying.
- Day 5: On our last day, we saved the best for the enchanting Pangong Lake. Before that, we paid a visit to the Buddha at Diskit Monastery. Also, then we came the tough but worthwhile part: a 6-hour drive to Pangong. Even though it was freezing, we couldn’t help but be captivated by the lake’s stunning colours. Moreover, as night fell we stayed up late, mesmerised by the stars above.
