Hello fellow travellers, Maanshi here!!!
Jodhpur, known as the “Blue City,” is a vibrant tapestry of history, culture, and stunning architecture. Nestled in the heart of Rajasthan, it beckons travellers with its majestic forts, charming markets, and mouth watering street food. My recent journey to this enchanting city was nothing short of magical, as I explored its hidden gems and iconic landmarks over four unforgettable days with my friends in May.
Mode of Travel to Jodhpur

Firstly, we opted for a train journey in 3AC class, which cost between ₹1000 and ₹1200. Once we arrived in Jodhpur, we used autos for local travel, as this allowed us to navigate the narrow streets easily.
Accommodations in Jodhpur
We stayed at two excellent hotels:
- Welcome Hotel by ITC, Jodhpur: approx. ₹6500 per night (2 nights)
- Zone by the Park: approx. ₹4000 per night (2 nights)
Day 1: Majestic Forts and Memorials in Jodhpur

Our adventure began at Mehrangarh Fort, where we marvelled at its intricate architecture and historical significance. Also, the entry fee is ₹100, and the panoramic views from the fort are breathtaking, making it a must-visit.
Next, we visited Jaswant Thada, often referred to as the “Taj Mahal of Marwar.” Moreover, the serene atmosphere and marble marvels made it an ideal spot to unwind and capture beautiful memories. Entry here is just ₹30.
As the day ended, we discovered Toorji Ka Jhalra, a charming stepwell where we relaxed and soaked in the evening ambience. Also, the sight of Mehrangarh Fort illuminated at night was simply mesmerising.
Day 2: Royal Heritage in Jodhpur

Our second day was filled with royal grandeur at Umaid Bhawan Palace. The rich history and opulent architecture left us in awe. Also, entry was ₹30, and the palace is a fantastic place for photography.
Afterwards, we explored Mandore Gardens, a lush oasis adorned with historical monuments and temples. Moreover, the greenery provided a peaceful escape from the city buzz.
Day 3: Desert Safari in Jodhpur

On the third day, we set off for the Osian desert for a thrilling safari. Also, the camel riding experience and the open Jeep ride through the golden sands were unforgettable highlights. The safari cost us ₹500 per person.
Day 4: The Blue City’s Charms

We spent our final day wandering through the picturesque blue lanes of Jodhpur. Also, the vivid houses, lively markets, and the iconic Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) made for an enchanting experience.
The bustling markets were perfect for shopping traditional textiles, jewellery, and handicrafts. Also, each corner was filled with vibrant colours and aromas, making it hard to resist buying souvenirs.

Food Experiences in Jodhpur
- Shastri Circle: A must-visit in the evening for street food delights. We indulged in chuski, fruit chaat, and the famous Makhaniya lassi. Our total food expense for street food was around ₹2000 for the group.

Tips for Travellers for Jodhpur
- To start, always begin your visit early to beat the crowd and the heat. Alternatively, starting around 4 PM is an option, but be sure to check for timings, as they close by 7 PM.
- Next, wear comfortable clothing and footwear for walking and climbing. Additionally, keep a water bottle handy to stay hydrated.
- While cabs like Ola and Uber are available, I recommend hiring autos for the day, as they know the narrow lanes better.
- Finally, when shopping, remember to bargain with shopkeepers, who often quote higher prices to travellers.
My journey to Jodhpur was an eye-opening experience. From the grandeur of Mehrangarh Fort to the quaint streets of the Blue City, every moment was filled with wonder.
