Namaste, fellow travellers!!!
Join me on a spiritual expedition through the heart of India as we explore the sacred cities of Ujjain, Omkareshwar, and Indore. Also, each destination holds profound significance in Hindu mythology and spirituality, offering a unique glimpse into the rich tapestry of Indian culture and tradition.
Overnight Journey from Ahmedabad to Ujjain:
I boarded the bus from Ahmedabad at 9:30 PM and reached Ujjain early the next morning at 6:30 AM. Also, the ticket price for this journey was Rs. 600.

Day 1: Solo Exploration in Ujjain: A Memorable Journey
After landing from the bus, I hopped on an auto to reach Hotel Angareshwar, costing me a mere Rs. 40. This hotel, where I stayed for two nights in an AC room priced at Rs. 3400, turned out to be the perfect sanctuary for my solo adventure. Also, the icing on the cake? My room overlooked the magnificent Mahakaleshwar temple, providing an unparalleled view.
Once refreshed, I indulged in a delicious local street breakfast for under Rs. 100 before heading to the renowned Mahakaleshwar Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas.
For an efficient temple tour, I opted for a shared auto, priced at Rs. 200, and a private one, priced at Rs. 600, to visit the following sacred sites:
- Sandipani Ashram, where Lord Krishna was trained by Guru Sandipani.
- Mangalnath Temple is believed to be the birthplace of Mars, according to the Matsya Purana.
- Kalbhairav Temple is known for offering alcohol to Lord Kalbhairav.
- Sthirman Ganesh Mandir is revered for bringing stability to the disturbed mind.
- Gadkalika Temple is one of the Maha-Shakti peeth temples.
It will take 5 hours to visit all these temples. After a fulfilling day of temple hopping, I attended the enchanting Shipra Aarti at Ramghat and the divine Aarti at Harsiddhi Mata Temple, both within walking distance from my hotel.
Dinner consisted of a sumptuous Masala Dosa priced at Rs. 120, followed by a visit to the iconic Mahakal Corridor. Also, the panoramic view from there, especially at night, was simply mesmerising and worth the two-hour exploration. Also, it will take 2 hours to visit.
Overall, my solo journey in Ujjain was filled with spiritual experiences, delightful culinary treats, and unforgettable sights, making it a trip to cherish forever.

Day 2: Spiritual Sojourn to Omkareshwar
I stood for Bhasma Aarti at midnight, an ancient ritual where Lord Shiva is adorned with ashes from cremation grounds. Following this profound experience, I eagerly awaited the early morning Bhasma Aarti from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m., a spiritual journey facilitated by an online registration fee of Rs. 1500.
After getting bhasha aarti, I savoured a delightful breakfast comprising local street delicacies, all within a budget of under Rs. 100.
So, the next stop on my pilgrimage was Omkareshwar, the abode of the second Jyotirlinga. Boarding a bus from Ujjain to Omkareshwar for a mere Rs. 140, I travelled approximately 140 km. Upon arrival, a short auto ride priced at Rs. 20 took me from the bus stand to the temple premises.
Also, Omkareshwar boasts two main Shiva temples. Moreover, one is situated on the island of Omkareshwar, accessible only by boat for a nominal fee of Rs. 50. Likewise, the other is Mamleshwar, located on the southern bank of the Narmada River on the mainland.
After seeking blessings at both temples, I embarked on the return journey from Omkareshwar to Ujjain. The bus ticket price is Rs. 150. The scenic route took approximately five hours from Omkareshwar to Ujjain.

Day 3: Farewell to Ujjain and Exploring Indore
In the morning, I freshened up and had breakfast. After that, I had to leave Ujjain. But I didn’t feel like leaving Ujjain, so I again went to visit the Mahakaleshwar temple. Then I left for Indore and boarded a bus from Ujjain to Indore for a nominal fare of Rs. 70.
Upon arriving in Indore, my first stop was the bustling 56 Dukan Street, where I immersed myself in culinary exploration, relishing a variety of delectable dishes despite the slightly higher prices, justified by the exceptional quality.
After that, I set out to explore the historical landmarks of Indore from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Also, I shared an auto priced at Rs. 250. The highlights of my tour included:
- Khajrana Ganesh Temple
- Rajwada Palace (entry fee: Rs. 20)
- Lalbagh Palace (entry fee: Rs. 40)
- Annapurna Temple
- Sarafa Bazar
- Rajwada Shopping Market
As the sun began to set, I made my way to the bus station, bidding bye to Indore and returning to Ahmedabad at 9 p.m. Also, the bus journey, priced at Rs. 700, arrived in Ahmedabad at 6 a.m..
