Hello fellow travellers, Kajal here!!!
I am your travel buddy. In July, my family and I embarked on a refreshing one-day trip to the historic city of Gwalior. With a budget of 10,000 INR and our car as the mode of travel. We explored a mix of cultural, spiritual, and recreational spots, making unforgettable memories along the way. Also, Gwalior’s charm, combined with the rainy monsoon weather, made for a perfect day out.
Starting the Journey:

Our day began with a visit to the iconic Gwalior Fort. It is one of the most impressive hill forts in India. Also, the stunning architecture and historical significance of the fort left us in awe. Moreover, we spent a few hours walking around the fort and visited the Fort Museum, which offered a deeper insight into the fort’s rich history. Likewise, the entry fees were quite reasonable at 50 INR per person for both the fort and the museum.
Gwalior Zoo and Spiritual Exploration:

After the fort, we headed to the Gwalior Zoo. A peaceful escape where we enjoyed seeing a variety of animals. Also, the entry fee of 50 INR per person was well worth it for the experience. Next on our itinerary was the Sheetla Mata Mandir, where we spent some quiet time soaking in the temple’s spiritual atmosphere.
Leisure and Shopping at DB Mall:
By the afternoon, we made our way to DB Mall, a modern shopping centre that provided us with a mix of retail therapy and relaxation. Although we didn’t buy much, it was a nice break from the historical sites and a chance to enjoy some leisure time indoors.
Ending the Day at Jourasi Wale Hanuman Ji:

Our final stop for the day was the Jourasi Wale Hanuman Ji Temple, a well-known spiritual site in Gwalior. Also, the grandeur of the temple and its peaceful ambience made for a fitting end to our day of exploration.
Food and Dining in Gwalior:
Throughout the day, we indulged in local street food. We spent around 2,000 INR for all five of us. Also, the flavours of Gwalior’s street food were a delightful treat. For dinner, we visited Hotel Chulewala, where we enjoyed a hearty meal that cost us 1,800 INR—the restaurant’s traditional dishes made for a satisfying conclusion to our day.
Tips for Future Travellers:
- Gwalior is a wonderful place to explore, especially during the July season.
- Also, if you’re planning a similar trip, a one-day itinerary is perfect for covering the main highlights of the city.
- Moreover, we didn’t need accommodation since it was a day trip. But for longer stays, booking a place near the fort or city centre would be ideal.
So, Gwalior offered us a perfect blend of history, spirituality, and leisure, all packed into one fulfilling day. Moreover, it’s a great destination for a short family trip.
