Come along with me as I take you around the fascinating cities of Chittorgarh and Udaipur on an unforgettable tour. This travel blog will offer insights into my incredible experiences throughout my vacation to these dynamic cities, from breathtaking palaces and captivating lakes to intriguing forts and exquisite dining.
Day 1: Arrival in Udaipur
After a comfortable train journey on the Mewar Express from Hazrat Nizamuddin, I reached Udaipur for 12-13 hours, also known as the “City of Lakes”. Opting to stay in a hotel near the train station proved to be a wise decision, both in terms of convenience and cost.
The 3-star hotel offered comfortable accommodation at a reasonable rate of 1000 per night. Renting a scooty saved a lot of time at Rs.400/ per day. We visited City Palace which also has a museum inside, having 4 floors.
The fourth floor provided soldiers with a strategic vantage point for ancient surveillance, while the third floor was reserved for the Ranis and Maharani. The palace, crafted from a blend of glass and stone, featured exceptional ventilation and one can have a 360-degree view from the palace.
Day 2: Immerse in Local Culture & Lake of Udaipur
Delving into Udaipur’s culinary offerings, I embarked on a adventure to experience Udaipur’s magnificent lakes, I rented a boat exclusively for my friends and me. The hour-long boating session, priced at 600, rewarded us with enchanting views of Lake Pichola.
Then we had a lakeside meal in Udaipur. Imbibing the local culture, I headed to Bagore ki Haveli, a cultural complex that hosts a captivating Rajasthani folk dance and puppet show. The ticket price of 300 was well worth the experience.
Day 3 : A Journey into History of Kumbalgarh Fort:
The next day we traveled to Kumbalgarh Fort, which is 6-7 kilometers from the city. In comparison to City Palace, Kumbalgarh Fort is situated at a relatively higher altitude.
Day 4: Chittorgarh – A Fortress of History
Leaving Udaipur, I headed to Chittorgarh, a city steeped in history. I chose to stay at the railway station’s retiring room, which offered both Rs.500 for a AC room and Rs.250 for a non-AC room. Inside Chittorgarh, I explored the enchanting Meena Bazaar and visited the museum, gaining valuable insights into the city’s intricate heritage.
The fort, fortified with the legendary Sati Kund showcased in the movie “Padmaavat”, left me in awe.
Taking the Chetak Express back to my departure point, I bid good-bye to the captivating city of Chittorgarh.
Best Food to try in Udaipur :
I enjoyed the famous Khadaknath chicken, known for its distinct taste, followed by the ideal Rajasthani dish – Daal Bati Churma.
Travel Hacks for Udaipur:
- Renting a scooty saved a lot of time at Rs.400/ per day.
- Also alchohol is not easily available there in the city however one can manage to get it.
- One can get the tickets from Rajasthan tourism site on which students can also get around 50 percent discount.
Best time to visit Udaipur :
Anytime you choose, you can arrange your travel to suit your comfort level. Nonetheless, September through March is the ideal season to explore Udaipur. It’s not too hot at this time of year, but it becomes chilly from the beginning of November until February. March through June is when Udaipur gets quite hot, which makes it exceedingly tiring for those who want to see the city. Thus, you are free to arrange your travel around your tourist schedule.
I highly recommend including Udaipur and Chittorgarh on every traveler’s bucket list for an authentic and soul-stirring experience.
