Hey everyone, Ayush here! I just got back from an incredible two-day trip to Manali with my best friend, and I’m still buzzing from the experience. We were both in desperate need of a break from the hustle and bustle of Delhi, and Manali’s stunning landscapes and serene atmosphere were just what the doctor ordered.
Day 1: Bhrigu Lake’s Spiritual Embrace & Jogini Waterfall’s Symphony
Our journey began with a scenic train ride from Delhi to Kullu (it cost us 7,500 INR each, but trust me, it was worth every penny). From there, we hopped into a comfy cab (5,000 INR) that snaked its way up the winding roads to Manali. Our home for the next two nights was the charming Hotel Meadows Manali (1,900 INR/night), nestled amidst stunning mountain vistas.
Our first adventure was a trek to the mystical Bhrigu Lake, nestled 18 kilometers away. The cab ride was a breeze, and as we ascended higher and higher, the views just kept getting better and better. Bhrigu Lake itself was pure magic – crystal-clear waters surrounded by snow-capped peaks and a sense of spiritual calm that washed over me instantly.
After soaking up the serenity of Bhrigu Lake, we headed to Jogini Waterfall. The 12-kilometer cab ride was another highlight, with waterfalls cascading down the hillsides and fresh mountain air filling our lungs. The waterfall itself was simply breathtaking – powerful and refreshing, the perfect way to cool down after our hike.
As the sun started to set, we wandered through the bustling local markets, picking up souvenirs and indulging in some delicious street food. Maggi and Momos were definitely on the menu (budget around 1,000 INR for all our foodie adventures).
Day 2: Crystal-Clear Serenity at Nehru Kund & Culinary Delights
Day two started with a visit to Nehru Kund, a natural spring named after India’s first Prime Minister. It’s just 8 kilometers away from Manali, and the cab ride was a peaceful way to ease into the morning. Nehru Kund is famous for its crystal-clear waters and serene ambiance, and it was the perfect place to relax and soak up the beauty of the Himalayas.
As the sun began to set on our Manali adventure, we explored the vibrant local markets once more. This time, we decided to dive into the local specialties like Sidu, Dham, and Bhey (we budgeted around 800 INR for this culinary feast). Each bite was an explosion of flavor, a true taste of the Himalayas.
Tips for Travelers:
- Best time to visit: I highly recommend visiting Manali during the summer months (March-June) for a taste of adventure, or the winter months (October-February) for a snowy wonderland experience.
- Getting around: Cabs are your best bet for exploring Manali’s scenic landscapes. They’re comfortable, and convenient, and give you stunning views along the way.
- Must-dos: Hike to Bhrigu Lake, chase waterfalls, shop for local treasures, and indulge in street food feasts – you won’t regret it!
- Budget: Plan for around 22,500 INR per person.
Memories that Last a Lifetime:
Leaving Manali, I carried with me not just breathtaking photos but a deep sense of peace and rejuvenation. This Himalayan haven reminded me that magic awaits in the simplest moments – a cup of piping hot Maggi, the roar of a waterfall, or the warmth of a local smile. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of Manali’s beauty someday.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my Manali adventure! If you’re looking for a break from the ordinary and a chance to reconnect with nature, I highly recommend adding Manali to your travel bucket list. You won’t be disappointed!
