In the heart of India, lies the sacred city of Varanasi, a place where ancient traditions seamlessly blend with modern life. Often hailed as the oldest living city in the world, Varanasi, also known as Kashi, is a magnet for spiritual seekers and a treasure trove of timeless stories. I am Kartikeya and I invite you to join me on a captivating exploration of its labyrinthine alleys, iconic ghats (riverfront steps), and delectable street food as we unravel the city’s mystique.
The Journey Begins
My recent Varanasi adventure revolved around attending the annual Kashiyatra festival at IIT-BHU. The 16-hour train journey from Bhopal to Varanasi Junction served as a perfect introduction to the city’s enigmatic charm. Here’s a tip: Varanasi has two major stations – Varanasi Junction (Cantt) and Banaras (Manduadih). Be mindful of the names to avoid confusion when booking local transport.
