Best Places to Visit in Amritsar
- Day 1: Explore the History at Jallianwala Bagh & The Partition Museum
The journey began with a visit to two significant places: Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum. Entry tickets cost Rs. 20 and Rs. 250, respectively, opening the door to historical stories. Jallianwala Bagh, known for the tragic events of 1919, echoed with the solemnity of the past. Travelling from our hotel to these sites, and then to The Partition Museum, was easy with rickshaws and autos, providing a taste of Amritsar’s lively atmosphere. After exploring, we enjoyed Amritsari street food and markets.
- Day 2: Spiritual visit at Sri Harmandir Sahib
On the second day, they visited the peaceful Sri Harmandir Sahib, where their entry was a humble donation. The Golden Temple, symbolising Sikhism’s spirituality, provided a calm atmosphere. We reached Sri Harmandir Sahib from the Partition Museum easily by a short train ride, enjoying views of the city. After exploring the temple, we explored the famous markets around the Golden Temple, buying souvenirs and enjoying street food specialities.
Best Food to try in Amritsar
Amritsari food is famous for its rich and hearty flavours. Don’t miss out on trying dishes like Amritsari Kulcha, Amritsari fish, Chole Bhature, and Lassi.
Best Time to Visit Amritsar
The best time to explore Amritsar’s cultural places is during the winter months, from October to March when the weather is pleasant.
