Hello fellow travel explorers, Stuti here!!!
In March, our family embarked on an unexpected yet delightful trip to Ayodhya. Initially, this destination wasn’t on our travel list for the year; however, sometimes the best adventures are those that happen spontaneously. Moreover, set against the backdrop of spiritual significance and rich history, Ayodhya offered us a chance to reconnect with our roots and experience the warmth of its culture. Ultimately, it turned out to be a journey we will cherish forever.
Travel Guide to Ayodhya from Jhansi

We set off from Jhansi around 7 AM, with excitement bubbling as we hit the road. After a scenic drive and a half-hour pit stop, we arrived in Ayodhya by 2 PM. Also, our first destination was the iconic Hanuman Garhi, a must-visit for anyone travelling to Ayodhya as I had visited this sacred place a decade ago, returning felt like a nostalgic journey back to my childhood.
Accommodation and Early Morning Aarti
We booked Arundhati Dorms, which were premium and tidy. Also, a key piece of advice is to pre-book your stay if you’re travelling on weekends, as accommodations tend to fill up quickly.
Early the next morning, we attended the Mangla Aarti at Janmabhoomi. It’s essential to pre-book this experience on the official website. Moreover, for regular darshan, the gates open at 6:30 AM, offering a beautiful start to the day.
Day 1: Exploring Ayodhya’s Treasures
We started our journey from Jhansi around 7 AM and reached Ayodhya by 2 PM, with a half-hour pit stop along the way. Our first stop was Hanuman Garhi. Despite the large crowd, the temple’s beauty and spiritual aura made it a must-visit. Also, a pro tip: stay hydrated and carry a water bottle!

Key Visits:
- Hanuman Garhi: A beautiful temple; be prepared for crowds.
- Janmabhoomi: I have fond memories of visiting this site as a child. The lockers provided for valuables were very convenient, and the organisation was impressive, making the hour-long visit manageable.
- Dashrath Mahal: Currently under renovation, this architectural marvel is worth seeing.
- Kanak Bhawan: Dedicated to Sita Mata, this temple is another exquisite piece of art.
Since food options are limited near the temples, we made sure to consume fruits and stay hydrated.
- Dining Experience:
Post temple visits, we were starving! We headed to Arundhati Food and Hospitality, which offered a delightful atmosphere. Our order included:
- Manchow soup
- Alfredo penne pasta
- Veg sautéed pizza
- Chilli mushroom
- Chocolate donuts
- Lots of coffee and tea
Highly recommended for anyone visiting!
Day 2: Early Morning and Exploring Saryu

Instead of entering Ayodhya via the main road, we parked our car at Arundhati Multi-Level Parking near Tedhi Bazar, which is very close to the main gate of Janmabhoomi. Also, we took an e-rickshaw for about 2 km (make sure to negotiate the fare to no more than ₹20 per person) and then walked about 500 metres to reach the main gate. Moreover, be prepared to go through two levels of security checks, and wheelchairs are available at the entrance for those in need.
One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the Saryu River after 10 PM. Also, it was a serene experience sitting by the ghat, soaking in the peaceful vibes of Ayodhya. Moreover, exploring the city at night provided a calm contrast to the bustling daytime atmosphere.
Best Time to Visit Ayodhya

The best time to explore Ayodhya is from October to March when the weather is pleasant and ideal for temple visits. However, visiting in March can be a unique experience as well, allowing you to enjoy the festivities that often occur during this time.
Travel Tips for Ayodhya:
- First, research and book your accommodations and Aarti timings in advance to ensure a smooth trip.
- Additionally, carry a reusable water bottle and keep sipping water throughout your visit.
- Moreover, try to visit temples early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid crowds.
- In addition, the best moments often come during nighttime walks by the Saryu River or visiting temples after the crowds have dispersed.
Our spontaneous trip to Ayodhya was a beautiful blend of history, spirituality, and family bonding. Also, I look forward to revisiting Ayodhya and exploring more of what this sacred destination offers!
