Hello travel lovers,
Are you looking for an interesting gateway from Delhi, Agra is a wonderful option for the winter’s month. I travelled in February, which was an amazing experience to explore the beauty of Agra with my cousins. Also, there were six of us, and we went to relax on weekends for my sister-in-law’s birthday.
Delhi to Agra Long Drive and Road Trip:

We started our journey from Delhi towards Agra at 6 AM in our cars. On the way, we stopped at Starbucks on the Yamuna Expressway for coffee. After that, we reached Agra by 1 PM.
Luxury stay in Agra :
We checked into the Ramada Hotel, where we had booked two rooms for our two-day stay, one deluxe and one executive room, costing ₹4,000 per night. After freshening up and resting, we drove to see the Taj Mahal at 4 PM in our car.
A Two-Day Getaway in Agra

- Day 1: Adventure Begins in the city of Love Agra
Head to the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, to witness its stunning beauty. Also, the Taj Mahal was crowded, but we found parking a bit ahead. We explored the Taj Mahal and learned about its history. The white marble mausoleum was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. It is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture. Moreover, it was crowded and we clicked many pictures over there. An interesting fact about the Taj Mahal is that its colour changes depending on the time of day. Likewise, we stayed there until around 4 PM.
Pro tip: Hire a guide if you are a first-time visitor and bargain with them.
After leaving the Taj Mahal, we explored a nearby market, ate snacks, and bought keychains and showpieces of the Taj Mahal.
As the day turned to evening, we made our way to Mehtab Bagh, a garden complex situated on the opposite bank of the Yamuna River, offering a stunning view of the Taj Mahal at sunset. Furthermore, the reflection of the monument in the river, with the setting sun casting a golden glow, was a sight to behold. As well, it was a perfect moment of tranquillity and beauty, a fitting end to a day filled with wonder.
For dinner, we went to the famous Salt Cafe and ordered noodles, garlic bread, momos, pizza, and French fries. Also, we then returned to our hotel, where we chatted and had a small party. It was my sister-in-law’s birthday, so we cut a cake at midnight.
Pro Tip: The Taj Mahal opens at 6:00 AM, so aim to be there early to avoid the crowd and enjoy the serene beauty of the monument. Purchase tickets online in advance to skip the long queues.
Day 2: Another Day of Mughal Marvels
The next day, we got up, got ready, and had breakfast at the famous Rambabu Pratha Bhandar. After that, we visited Agra Fort, which was beautiful and very similar to Delhi’s Red Fort. Also, from Agra Fort, you get a great view of the Taj Mahal, which is visible from every angle. Moreover, there is also Diwan-i-Aam, where scenes from the movie Jodha Akbar were shot.

We explored until 3 PM, then went out to enjoy some snacks and ice cream.
In Fatehpur, we visited the Buland Darwaza, the tomb of Sheikh Salim Chishti, and the Jama Masjid. Akbar’s fort in Sikri was also impressive, where he lived for nearly fifteen years. Likewise, this is the place where Akbar founded the Din-i-Ilahi religion. However, due to severe water shortages, Akbar moved his capital from Fatehpur Sikri to Agra. After visiting Fatehpur Sikri, we had dinner at Cafe G and then returned to our hotel.

The next day, we checked out and headed back to Delhi. The trip cost us ₹12,000 per person, which included food, accommodation, sightseeing, shopping, and petrol expenses. Also, we got to the famous Panchi petha of Agra.
The ideal time to travel to Agra :
The best time to visit Agra is from October to March. This is the peak season, so expect some crowds. Also, the weather is moderate from July to September, allowing you to avoid large gatherings.
