Salutations to all my fellow travellers! Come along, Manish, as I take you on a trip that embodies Shimla’s charm and tell you about the wonderful adventure my family and I took. With its breathtaking scenery and peaceful atmosphere, Shimla provided the ideal setting for our four-day family vacation, combining spirituality, history, and breathtaking vistas.
Day 1: Jakhu Temple Spiritual Retreat
We began our journey at Jakhu Temple, where we were welcomed by the imposing statue of Hanuman, which stood sentry over the whole city. Our exploration began calmly thanks to the temple’s spiritual ambiance and expansive perspective of Shimla.
Day 2: Viceregal Lodge’s Colonial Charm
The Viceregal Lodge, a classic example of colonial splendour, was the next item on our itinerary. As we strolled about the immaculately kept estate, the well-kept grounds told us stories from its past, giving us a peek of Shimla’s colonial past.
Day 3: Shopping on Mall Road and Peace at Christ Church
The famous Christ Church served as our place of introspection and added to Shimla’s rustic appeal. After that, we went to Mall Road, the main thoroughfare in Shimla, where we enjoyed some delicious local food and souvenir shopping.
Travelling to Shimla: An Enchanting Scene
We started our scenic adventure to Shimla by taking a train from Delhi to Chandigarh and then a bus to Shimla. The scenic route set the tone for our vacation, allowing us to soak in the beauty that lay ahead.
Our stay : Cosy Hideaway in the Misty Setting
We took refuge in a small hotel named Himalayan Haven in Shimla, paying about 1000 rupees a room. Our visit was made even more magical by the enchanting combination of the misty ambiance and the cool November weather, which made for an ideal family getaway.
Kufri’s Adventures and Culinary Delights Await
Our travels brought us to Kufri, a thrilling location with a wide range of adventure activities. Mall Road offered a place to shop and indulge in delicious local cuisine with its vibrant atmosphere.
Essentials to Pack for Changing Weather
Careful packing was necessary for this journey. Given the unpredictable Shimla weather, wearing season-appropriate apparel, durable sports shoes with high traction, and raincoats proved essential. The showers that felt like rain while we were there gave our exploration a revitalizing feel.
Gourmet Exploration: A Delight for the Taste Buds
We were unable to resist trying some of the delicious street food options in Shimla, including Madra, Chicken Anardana, Dhaam, Chha Gosht, and Babru. Every meal was a work of culinary art that enhanced our time in Shimla.
Travellers’ Helpful Advice: Jakhu Temple’s Altitude Awareness
A helpful piece of advice for other travellers: If you have trouble breathing, you might want to stay away from high-altitude locations like Jakhu Temple, as the oxygen concentrations there may be lower. Those with breathing problems may find the ascent difficult.
Expenses and Budgeting: Worth Every Rupee
Our family getaway in Shimla came at a cost of about 10,000 rupees per person. Spending a rupee creates precious memories, which is why Shimla is the perfect place for a leisurely family vacation.
In summary, Shimla proved to be the ideal fusion of spirituality, history, and natural beauty. This quaint hill village has enough to offer for those seeking adventure or peace of mind. Till then, have a happy trip!
