In the peaceful town of Rishikesh, my friend Vishnu started on a five-day journey, finding peace in the spiritual vibes and stunning natural view of this Himalayan paradise. Rishikesh is famous as the ‘Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas’ and the ‘Yoga Capital of the World’. Lots of local people and tourists from abroad come here looking for peace and spirituality.

Places to visit in Rishikesh for 5 Days
- Lakshman Jhula and Triveni Ghat (Evening): Our adventure began at the famous Lakshman Jhula, a bridge over the Ganges River with a special story. Legend has it that Lakshman, Lord Rama’s brother, crossed the Ganges here using jute ropes. From our cosy retreat, we took a rickshaw ride to Lakshman Jhula, just 4 kilometres away. As the sun set, we walked to the sacred Triveni Ghat, where three holy rivers meet. The evening Ganga Aarti, a spiritual ceremony by the river, was truly enchanting. The lively market near Triveni Ghat offered delightful dishes.
- Ram Jhula and Shri Bharat Mata Mandir: On our second day, we visited Ram Jhula, another famous bridge over the Ganges, rich in mythology. Legend says Lord Ram crossed the river here. We took a quick auto ride from our hotel to reach Ram Jhula, just 3 kilometres away. Next to Ram Jhula, we explored Shri Bharat Mata Mandir, one of the oldest temples devoted to Lord Vishnu. Its ancient importance and beautiful design added a spiritual aspect to our trip. We also enjoyed delicious street food from the nearby market.
- Patna Waterfall: On our third day, we decided to visit the stunning Patna Waterfall, tucked away amidst beautiful green surroundings. This breathtaking natural wonder truly enchanted us. Taking a peaceful train ride followed by a short auto trip to reach the waterfall, which was only 7 kilometres away from the hotel. After enjoying the refreshing waters of the waterfall, we explored the nearby local market and indulged in delicious street food.
- Rafting Adventure: On our fourth day, we had an exciting adventure planned: river rafting on the famous Ganges! The thrilling ride, costing about Rs. 1000 per person, took us through the river’s exciting rapids, giving us stunning views of the scenery. After the rafting, we wandered around the nearby market, enjoying tasty snacks.
- Ganga River: On our last day, we decided to spend time by the tranquil Ganges River. It was a soulful experience, with the calm atmosphere providing a peaceful end to our journey. We took an auto ride from our hotel to reach the peaceful banks of the Ganges, just a short distance away.
