Hello fellow travellers, Akshat Here!!!
Kashmir, often called ‘Paradise on Earth,’ lived up to its reputation as we embarked on a six-day family adventure covering some of the most breathtaking locations in the region. Also, from the serene Dal Lake in Srinagar to the hidden gems of Butapathi and Sinthan Top, this journey was filled with awe-inspiring landscapes, local experiences, and cherished memories. Moreover, the journey began in June and lasted 6 days, including travel time. It was a family trip with 7 travellers.
Likewise, we travelled by bus and stayed at two hotels during their trip. In Patnitop, they stayed at a hotel that cost ₹7,500. Later, they stayed at a hotel in Srinagar, where the accommodation cost ₹11,000.
Places to visit in Kashmir
- Arrival in Srinagar & Shikara Ride on Dal Lake
Our journey began in the heart of Kashmir—Srinagar. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the mesmerising beauty of Dal Lake. Also, the two-hour Shikara ride on the lake was a peaceful and scenic introduction to the region. Moreover, as we glided over the calm waters, the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and houseboats left us enchanted. This was the perfect start to our Kashmir adventure.
- Exploring Gulmarg, Butapathri, and Doodhpathri
The second day took us to the popular hill station of Gulmarg. Although we missed out on the Gondola ride due to ticket unavailability, the day was still a highlight as we ventured to the hidden gem of Butapathri. Also, this remote location, nestled within the mountains, required special permission from the Indian Army. Thanks to our driver, an ex-army man, we managed to secure the necessary clearance. Moreover, the journey to Butapathri was an experience in itself, offering pristine landscapes and a sense of untouched beauty. Later, we visited Doodhpathri, a meadow known for its lush greenery and tranquil atmosphere.
- Conquering Sinthan Top
Day three was dedicated to exploring another hidden treasure—Sinthan Top. Located at an altitude of 12,000 feet, this mountain pass offered panoramic views that were nothing short of spectacular. Also, the drive to Sinthan Top was an adventure, winding through steep roads and dense forests, but the breathtaking vistas made it all worthwhile. Moreover, we felt truly connected to nature in that place.
- Patnitop & Farewell to Kashmir
Our final destination was Patnitop, a serene hill station in Jammu. After a two-hour car ride from Jammu, we arrived at our hotel in Patnitop, where we spent a peaceful night surrounded by nature. Also, the next morning, we wrapped up our trip and began our journey back home, carrying with us the unforgettable memories of our Kashmir adventure.
Hidden Gems: Butapathri & Sinthan Top
- Butapathri: This hidden gem required special permission from the Indian Army. The process can be unpredictable, with no set time frame for obtaining permission. However, with the help of our ex-army driver, we were able to access this stunning location. Also, Butapathri is a place of untouched beauty, offering a peaceful escape from the more touristy spots.
- Sinthan Top: Accessible by cab, Sinthan Top is another lesser-known location that offers breathtaking views and a sense of solitude. Also, the journey to this mountain pass is an adventure in itself, with steep climbs and winding roads leading to a place where the sky meets the mountains.
Discover Kashmir at its Best Time:
June is the perfect time to visit Kashmir. We experienced its lush landscapes, pleasant weather, and vibrant gardens in full bloom. Moreover, the serene valleys and cool lakes create an ideal setting, making June the best time to explore Kashmir’s natural beauty.
Kashmir Border: Packing Checklist
When travelling to Kashmir, especially during the summer months, it’s essential to pack woollen clothes. Also, the weather can be unpredictable, with chilly mornings and evenings even in June.
Travel tips for fun adventures
- The only significant challenge we faced was traffic jams, which are common in the region, especially during peak tourist season.
- Also, I highly recommend staying at Hotel Natraj International in Patnitop and Hotel Trinetar for a comfortable and pleasant experience. Both offer excellent service and are good to explore the surrounding areas.
Must Know: The approximate budget for the trip was around ₹1,05,000. The entry fee for visiting the Mughal Garden in Anantnag was ₹10 per person.
Overall, visiting Kashmir was a wonderful experience for me; it was a relaxing getaway with the family in the hills with the most beautiful views. It is a lovely place to visit if one wants to be around nature and relax.Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of travel and discovery with beautiful stories at https://sowl.in/stories.
