Start your journey by taking a train from your city to Ujjain, or catch a bus from Indore (about 3 hours away). Also, plan to arrive in Ujjain by 8–9 p.m. and stay at Hotel Atharva for the night. Accommodation typically costs around Rs. 1,000 per day for a hotel stay. So, get ready for the spiritual adventure ahead.
Exploring Ujjain: The City of Temples
Get up at 3am to attend the Bhasmaarti ceremony at Mahakaleshwar Temple. Also, enjoy Ujjaini Poha for breakfast afterwards, which costs Rs. 15 per plate. Then, hire an auto and visit the important sites listed below:

- Kal Bhairav Mandir: Meet Kal Bhairav, the guardian deity of Ujjain, known as the city’s Chief Commander.
- Mangalnath Mandir: Seek blessings at Mangalnath Temple, famous for resolving astrological disputes and a beloved pilgrimage spot.
- Sandipani Ashram: Visit Sandipani Ashram, where Lord Krishna, Balarama, and Sudama studied under Sage Sandipani’s guidance.
- Gadkalika Mata Mandir: Pay homage at Gadkalika Mata Temple, one of the eighteen Shakti Peethas, dedicated to Goddess Mahakali.
After sightseeing, I went to Ram Ghat for the Shipra Aarti at 6 p.m. Also, then I visited Harsidhmi Mata Mandir and attended the evening aarti at 7 p.m. Afterwards, I leisurely explored Mahakaleshwar Lok until 9:30 pm, including the option to attend the Vibhuti Bhasmaarti if interested.

Exploring Omkareshwar: The Gateway to Lord Shiva’s Island
Take an early morning bus from Ujjain to Omkareshwar, arriving by afternoon after a 4-5 hour journey. Visit the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga and Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga, two sacred sites dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Also, don’t forget to experience the Narmada River boat ride (Rs. 100 per person for a shared boat), offering a peaceful journey along the sacred riverbanks. Moreover, attend the Narmada Aarti at 6 p.m., then return to Hotel Shree Radhe Krishna for the night.
Must Know: Local transport, such as auto-rickshaws, charges between Rs. 150 for short distances like travel between hotels, temples, or stations.

The ideal time to visit Ujjain and Omkareshwar is during the winter months (October to March). At that time the weather is pleasant for temple visits and sightseeing.

- Comfortable and modest clothing suitable for temple visits, preferably cotton, as it can get hot during the day.
- Also, carry comfortable shoes or sandals, as you may need to walk through temple complexes.
