Me and my beloved wife decided to embark on a journey to the Andaman Islands. Also, it wasn’t just any trip; it was their anniversary celebration, a milestone honoured with love and laughter.
Mumbai to Port Blair Route & Stay:
- Route –
Our adventure started with a flight from Mumbai to Port Blair. At Veer Savarkar International Airport, our driver warmly welcomed us and swiftly took us to the Red Carpet Hotel.
- Stay –
- Red Carpet Hotel in Port Blair: comfortable accommodation with convenient access to attractions.
- NK Havelock Resort is on Havelock Island.
- Coral Garden Resort is on Neil Island.
Hotels will range from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 5000 and above.
Things to do in the Andaman Islands:
Day 1: Exploring Cellular Jail and Embracing its Legacy
After getting comfortable, we visited the poignant Cellular Jail, paying tribute to our freedom fighters’ struggles. Also, the evening brought a mesmerising light and sound show, giving us goosebumps and a deeper appreciation of our history.
Day 2: Havelock Island, its Pristine Beaches, and Memorable Moments
After breakfast, we left for the Maccruz ferry station to reach Havelock Island. Beautiful blue waters greeted us at NK Havelock Resort. Also, Radhanagar Beach was stunning, perfect for a memorable photoshoot. We ended the day with a swim and a tasty dinner.
Day 3: Kalapathar Beach Bliss
We started early to catch the stunning sunrise at Kalapathar Beach, followed by a relaxed breakfast. Also, we spent the day soaking in the beauty of the beach, enjoying moments of peace and a lively atmosphere. Moreover, A perfect day ended with a refreshing swim in the pool at the hotel and a delightful dinner.
Day 4: Underwater Escapade: A Day of Adventure
We started with scuba diving at Nemo Beach, awestruck by vibrant corals and marine life. The cost of diving was Rs. 6,500 per person. Then, at Elephanta Beach, we enjoyed more water activities, savouring adventure and the sea’s beauty. Also, the cost of activities at Elephanta Beach will be Rs. 600 per person, and activities like sea walking and snorkelling will cost Rs. 1000 to Rs. 3500 per person.
Day 5: Kayaking and Island Exploration
Early morning kayaking gave us a glimpse of mangroves and bioluminescence. Paddling towards the sunrise, we admired coral and fish. After breakfast, we left Havelock for Neil Island. There, Bharatpur Beach offered water fun, while Lakshmanpur showcased natural wonders.Also, Bharatpur is for water activities; Lakshmanpur 2 has a natural bridge; and Lakshmanpur 1 is famous for its sunset.
Day 6: Farewell to Neil Island
Our last day on Neil Island was spent at the peaceful Bharatpur Beach before saying goodbye to this island haven. As we boarded the ferry back to Port Blair, we carried with us cherished memories and a longing to return one day.
Day 7: The Last Moments in Andaman
We embarked on an exciting speed boat tour at Corby’s Cove beach, catching sight of faraway islands and endless seas. Unwillingly, we said goodbye to Andaman, carrying memories and dreams of more adventures ahead.
Hidden Gem to Explore on Andaman Island:
You must visit Barren Island, the only active volcano along a chain of volcanoes from Sumatra to Myanmar. Also, we missed it this time as it lies about 138 km (86 mi) northeast of the territory’s capital, Port Blair, and requires prior special permissions to go there.
When to Chase Paradise in the Andamans: Best Travel Time:
The best time to visit Andaman is between October and May. Also, our trip was in February, and we found pleasant weather conditions.
Food Suggestions in Andaman:
When it comes to street food in Port Blair, make sure not to miss out on trying local delicacies like seafood dishes and coconut-based treats.
Necessary Things to Pack for Andaman Travel:
- Light Clothing: Due to the tropical climate, light and breathable fabrics are essential.
- Likewise, sunscreen and insect repellent. It is protection against the sun and pesky mosquitoes.
