Hello, my fellow readers, Ayush here, your travel buddy.
I am excited to share my wonderful trip adventure to this coastal gem in Konkan with Goa vibes, white sands, clear waters, and adventure—Malvan. Comfortable beach, pristine water. Start on a spontaneous adventure from Mumbai’s busy streets to Malvan’s serene shores.
How to Reach Malvan:
It was a spur-of-the-moment decision. Leaving the office around 9:30 PM, my friend and I opted to catch a 10:30 PM train to Malvan. Rushing home, we packed quickly and made it to the CST station. Despite the crowded trains, we squeezed in. After a 10- to 11-hour journey, we arrived at Ratnagiri.
Coastal Adventure CST to Ratnagiri and Ganpatipule: Day 1
We boarded a train from CST to Ratnagiri. Upon arrival around 7 AM, we took a local bus to the Ratnagiri depot. From there, we headed to Mandvi Beach and explored the nearby monuments.
Afterwards, we enjoyed breakfast at a restaurant before catching a bus to Ganpatipule. Along the way, we marvelled at the beautiful and pristine beaches. Upon reaching Ganpatipule, we visited the temple, strolled along the beach, and explored the Magic Garden and a museum. Later, we took an auto back to the Ratnagiri bus depot, making a stop at Are Ware Beach for lunch, known as the cleanest beach near Ratnagiri.
From there, we took a bus to Malvan. Upon arrival, we struggled to find accommodation but were fortunate to receive help from a local who allowed us to stay in his scuba office for the night. Later, we made friends with some locals who invited us to stay in their apartment, where we spent the night.
Exploring Chivla and Devbagh Beaches: Day 2
In the morning, we headed to Chivla Beach, where we enjoyed swimming and other activities. Later, we visited Devbagh Beach, about 7 km away from Malvan, and experienced scuba diving. Also, on our way back we stopped for breakfast. Upon returning to Malvan, we explored Sindhudurg Fort, wandered around the town, and had dinner. At night, we returned to Chivla Beach for more relaxation.
From Malvan to Mumbai via Beaches and Insights: Day 3
We started the day with a refreshing morning walk along the beach. Around 9 AM, we boarded a train to Mumbai, arriving around 10–11 PM. Likewise, Chivla Beach was quite crowded and not very clean, being the main beach in Malvan. In contrast, Devbagh Beach had fewer people and cleaner water than Chivla.
Also, the bus ticket from Ratnagiri to Malvan cost around Rs. 250 per person, while the ticket from Ratnagiri to Ganpatipule was around Rs. 80–100. Moreover, we took an auto from Ganpatipule to Malvan for Rs. 350, covering the beaches in between. Also, on average, lunch or dinner costs around Rs. 200 per person for vegetarian meals and Rs. 400–500 per person for non-vegetarian meals.
