Hello friends, My name is Kunal, and I’d like to share my recent trip experience with you. From the colonial architecture and vibrant markets to the serene seafront and iconic Bollywood, Mumbai has something for everyone.
Your Journey to Mumbai: How to Reach?
One day, two friends and I decided to visit Mumbai. We booked our train tickets from Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station, choosing AC coach tickets for the long journey. Each ticket costs 1,700 INR.
Our train departed in the evening, and we arrived at Mumbai Central Railway Station the following day. Since we had already booked our hotel in advance, we went straight there without having to search for accommodation. The next day, we began exploring the city.

Day 1: Exploring Iconic Mumbai
Our journey began at the Gateway of India, an iconic monument that stands as a symbol of Mumbai’s pride, offering a breathtaking view of the Arabian Sea. Nearby, we indulged in street food like bhel puri and vada pav, ideal Mumbai snacks that were both delicious and affordable.
Next, we visited Marine Drive, affectionately called the “Queen’s Necklace” due to its gorgeous night lights. The Gateway of India to Marine Drive is 3 km, which takes approximately 10 minutes by auto. Strolling along the seafront was a serene and soothing experience. We relished the sunset and engaged in light-hearted conversations while sitting by the sea.

Day 2: Historical and Cultural Insights of Mumbai
On the second day, we explored the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its Gothic architecture and intricate designs. Be sure to take plenty of pictures here.
Next, we visited Mani Bhavan, the former residence of Mahatma Gandhi in Mumbai. It features numerous exhibits about Gandhi’s life and his contributions, making it a truly inspiring place to visit. Travelling from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Mani Bhavan covers a distance of 5 km in 15 minutes by cab.
In the evening, we headed to Juhu Beach. The atmosphere and view were wonderful. We enjoyed Pav Bhaji and Pani Puri from the beach stalls, finding the street food delightful with its wide variety of offerings. The journey from Mani Bhavan to Juhu Beach spans 15 km and takes around 30 minutes by cab.

Day 3: Spiritual and Shopping Delight in Mumbai
On the third day, we visited Siddhivinayak Temple, dedicated to Lord Ganesha and attracting numerous devotees. The temple’s ambience and the people’s devotion were truly moving.
Afterwards, we headed to Colaba Causeway, a famous shopping street filled with clothes, jewellery, and souvenirs. We also enjoyed some delicious chaat and sandwiches from the stalls. Moreover, Siddhivinayak Temple to Colaba Causeway is a 12-kilometre journey, taking approximately 25 minutes by cab.
Then we explored Chor Bazaar, known for its antique and rare items. We purchased some unique antiques and vintage items, making for a fun and unique shopping experience. From Colaba Causeway to Chor Bazaar, it is 5 km, which can be covered in around 15 minutes by auto.

Day 4: Cafes and Coastal Walks in Mumbai
On the fourth day, we visited Cafe Mondegar, renowned for its quirky ambience and vibrant wall art. Also, we savoured delicious burgers and cold coffee in a lively atmosphere.
Later, we strolled along Carter Road, a beloved promenade known for its pleasant walkways and refreshing coastal breeze, enhanced by charming nearby cafes. Also, from Cafe Mondegar to Carter Road, it is 14 km, with a travel time of about 30 minutes by cab.
Day 5: Street Food Heaven in Mumbai
On the fifth day, we explored Ghatkopar’s Khau Gali, renowned for its delectable street food. We sampled cheese sandwiches, pav bhaji, pani puri, and simple cheese paninis, savouring the incredibly flavorful and diverse offerings that showcase the best of Mumbai’s street food.
Also, as we wrapped up these memorable five days, the following day marked our return journey. Mumbai, we’ll miss you.

- Best Time to Visit: October to March.
- Weather: Pleasant during these months, ideal for sightseeing.
- Packing Essentials: light clothing, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
- What to Do: Enjoy local street food, explore markets, and participate in local events.
- What to Avoid: Avoid overcrowded places during peak hours, keep an eye on your belongings, and avoid drinking tap water.
Must Know: The overall budget for the trip, including travel (train and local transport), is 15,000 INR for 3 people. Also, accommodation costs 10,000 INR for 4 nights, and food expenses total 9,000 INR, with some miscellaneous costs. So, the total expenditure was 40,000 INR for three people.
This trip to Mumbai was an unforgettable adventure, filled with excitement, culture, and delicious food. Also, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an exhilarating and memorable journey.
