Hello to all my travel buddies, I am Preethi, a mini vlog who is going to share an experience with a hidden gem nestled in the heart of southern India, Pattadakal. Our wanderlust took us on a 126-kilometer trip from Hubli to the charming Karnataka village of Pattadakal on a peaceful Sunday afternoon. This undiscovered treasure represents a unique fusion of architectural forms from the 7th and 8th centuries, masterfully crafted under the Chalukya dynasty.
Route to Go:
- 126-kilometer trip from Hubli to the Karnataka village of Pattadakal. You can travel by taxi, car, or train.
Exploring Pattadakal, northern Karnataka
Arriving at Pattadakal, we noticed the affordable entry fee—just 40 rupees for adults, free for kids up to 15 years old. If you’re capturing memories with your camera, there’s a small additional fee of 25 rupees. Open until 6pm, we recommend dedicating at least an hour to soak up the historical charm. The best time is around 4:30 to 5 p.m., the setting sun bathes the monuments in warm, golden light. Pattadakal, meaning ‘coronation stone,’ is a testimony to early Chalukyan architecture, blending northern and southern Indian influences seamlessly. As you walk through this open-air museum, intricate carvings and majestic temples charm you back in time.
