Hello travel enthusiasts, Surabhi this side !!!
Agra, a city synonymous with eternal love and architectural grandeur, recently became the backdrop of an unforgettable journey for me and my friends. Also, known globally for the iconic Taj Mahal, this historic city offers much more than its most famous monument. Moreverm, the journey was with friends, and there were 5 travellers in total.
Early Morning Departure from Jhansi to Agra

Our journey began in the early hours from Jhansi. We caught the train to Agra and reached our destination by 10 am. Also, upon arrival, we booked a cab and took a moment to freshen up at the railway station, where we also grabbed some snacks to energise ourselves for the day ahead.
Moreover, we used a cab from the railway station to the Taj Mahal, then from the Taj Mahal to Agra Fort, and back to the railway station. It cost us 500 INR for everyone’s whole day.
Blessings and the Taj Mahal :

Before heading to the Taj Mahal, we visited the Shri Tirupati Balaji Mandir to seek blessings dedicated to Lord Venkateswara. Also, by the time we reached the Taj Mahal at 11:30 am, it was already bustling with tourists. Moreover, despite the crowd, the monument’s grandeur left us in awe.
The Taj Mahal, renowned for its changing shades, looked magnificent against the backdrop of the Yamuna River. We also learned an interesting fact: the Taj Mahal’s colour changes with the light, making it look different at various times of the day, possibly three.
Unfortunately, time constraints prevented us from exploring the interiors extensively, but we cherished the beauty we witnessed. We stayed there until about 1 pm.
Exploring the Local Market of Agra :
After spending a couple of hours at the Taj Mahal, we decided to explore the nearby market. Also, we indulged in some delicious street food and bought souvenirs, adding a local touch to our trip.
Afternoon at Agra Fort :

Our next stop was the majestic Agra Fort, which we reached around 2 pm. The fort, with its striking resemblance to Delhi’s Red Fort, offers a panoramic view of the Taj Mahal from various angles.

Also, we explored the Diwan-i-Aam and Diwan-i-Khas, which are famously featured in the movie Jodha Akbar and also known as Qila-i-Akbari. Moreover, the historical significance and architectural brilliance of the fort left us mesmerised.

Sweet Delights and Departure from Agra :
As our exploration of Agra Fort concluded, we headed back towards the railway station. On our way, we couldn’t resist stopping at Panchi Petha, a famous sweet shop in Agra. Also, we tasted and purchased various flavours of petha, a local delicacy, to take back home. Also, we explored until 4 PM because we needed to catch our train.
Must know: The entry fee is 50 INR at both places you can book it from the official website.
Travel Tips for Savvy Explorers for Agra :
- Arriving at the Taj Mahal early in the morning helps avoid large crowds.
- Also, Carry a water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat to stay hydrated and protected from the sun.
- Moreover, using a cab for the day was convenient and cost-effective, costing us ₹500 for the entire day for all five of us.
Our one-day trip to Agra was packed with history, culture, and mouth-watering food. Visiting two UNESCO World Heritage sites in a single day was an enriching experience. Also, despite the tight schedule, we managed to soak in the beauty and history of both the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, making it a day well spent.Roam, Daydream, Repeat: Dive into travel stories at https://sowl.in/stories.
