Hello travel enthusiasts, my name is Saksham, and I want to tell you about my incredible trip to Aurangabad. Without wasting any time, let’s start the journey. Also, we booked a train from Varanasi Railway Station, and I was accompanied by my three cousins.

Consequently, the total budget comes to approximately 20,000 INR.

Travel and Accommodation in Aurangabad

Our train departed from Varanasi Cantt Railway Station at 2:30 AM. The journey was a full day and night, and we reached Aurangabad at 1 AM the next night. Although the journey was long, it was enjoyable because I had my fun-loving cousins with me. Also, the train ticket price was around 800 INR per person.

After reaching Aurangabad, we first went to our pre-booked hotel Hotel Atharva, which was budget-friendly (under 2000 INR per night). Moreover, we checked in, kept our luggage, and went to sleep. Early in the morning I had a light breakfast, and start to explore.

Must Know: Firstly, train tickets cost 800 INR per person, and since there are 4 people and a round trip, the total amount for train tickets is 6400 INR. Additionally, the hotel expenses for 3 nights amount to 2000 INR per night, which totals 6000 INR.

A Journey Through Time: Ajanta and Ellora Caves

We took a bus to Ajanta Caves, about 100 km from Aurangabad. These ancient Buddhist caves are famous for their beautiful paintings and rock-cut sculptures. Also, the entry fee was 40 INR per person. We tried local street food like poha and bhajiya near the caves. Moreover, the intricate artwork and serene atmosphere were impressive.

Next, we took a bus to Ellora Caves, which is about 30 km from Ajanta Caves. Notably, UNESCO designated the Ellora Caves as a World Heritage Site, and people recognize them for their magnificent rock-cut temples. Moreover, they charged an entry fee of 40 INR per person. Subsequently, we spent hours exploring the diverse caves, which are dedicated to Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain religions. In addition, the craftsmanship was breathtaking.

Imperial Splendor and Architectural Marvels:

We took an auto to Bibi Ka Maqbara, located within Aurangabad. Often called the “Mini Taj Mahal,” this mausoleum was beautiful and had an entry fee of 25 INR per person. We tried local street food like dabeli and bhel near the site. The architecture was splendid, and it was a peaceful place to visit.

Next, we took an auto to Aurangabad Caves, which are about 5 km from Bibi Ka Maqbara. These caves are carved out of the hillside and, in addition, have Buddhist influences. Furthermore, the entry fee was 10 INR per person.

Moreover, we enjoyed the tranquillity and the view of the city from the caves, as they were less crowded.

Finally, we took an auto to Daulatabad Fort, about 15 km from Aurangabad Caves. This historic fort has a rich history and stunning architecture. The entry fee was 25 INR per person. We explored the fort, enjoyed the panoramic views, and learned about its strategic importance.

A Royal Encounter and Jain Heritage in Aurangabad

We took an auto to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum, located in Aurangabad. The museum showcased artefacts and exhibits related to the Maratha empire. Also, the entry fee was 20 INR per person. We found it educational and appreciated the well-preserved history.

Next, we took an auto to Jain Caves, about 2 km from Ellora Caves. These caves were serene and had impressive Jain sculptures. Moreover, we tried local street food like pakoras and samosas near the site. The tranquillity and the artistry of the caves were notable.

Must Know: In terms of food, the approximate cost is 4000 INR. Furthermore, we estimate entry fees and local travel expenses to be around 3000 INR.

The best time to visit Aurangabad is from October to March when the weather is pleasant. Also, Aurangabad has a moderate climate, but summers can be hot. Winters are the best with cool and pleasant weather.
Moreover, carry light clothes, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, hats, and water bottles.
Likewise, book accommodations in advance, especially during peak seasons.
