Hey travel lovers! I’m Prashant and recently embarked on an incredible journey to Amritsar with my three friends. Here’s a detailed account of our adventure, filled with spiritual experiences, historical insights, and mouthwatering food.

We caught the 10 AM train from Prayagraj, shelling out 1400 INR per ticket. Also, the journey was scheduled for an 8 AM arrival the next day, but a slight delay until noon couldn’t dim our excitement.
Amritsar Adventure Begins in Best Accommodation :
After arriving at the station, we head to check into Hotel La Casa Amritsar, a 1400 INR per night stay. After freshening up and a quick lunch, we embarked on our exploration of the city.
Immerse Yourself in Amritsar: Top Attractions :

- Golden Temple
Our first stop was the Golden Temple. The sight of the shimmering temple amidst the holy waters was mesmerizing. Having seen this sight on television or on the internet, seeing it in person was an entirely different and joyful experience. Also, the Golden Temple looked even more beautiful in real life. We spent some time soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and enjoying the langar (community meal), which was a truly humbling experience.
Local Delicacies Near the Golden Temple: Near the Golden Temple, we tried Amritsari Kulcha and Lassi from a famous street vendor. The taste was out of this world!
- Jallianwala Bagh
Just a short walk (around 600 metres) from the Golden Temple is Jallianwala Bagh. Visiting this historic site was a sombre experience as we learned about the tragic massacre of 1919. Also, the memorial, the bullet marks, and the well left us with a deep sense of respect for the freedom fighters. We still salute from our hearts those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

- Durgiana Temple
In the early morning, we took an autorickshaw (approx. 2 km from our hotel) to Durgiana Temple, often referred to as the “Silver Temple” due to its silver doors. The temple’s stunning architecture and tranquil environment provided a perfect start to our day.
- Gobindgarh Fort
Next, we headed to Gobindgarh Fort (about 3 km from Durgiana Temple by auto rickshaw). The fort was an exciting experience with its historical exhibits, light and sound show, and cultural performances. Also, the entry fee for Indians was 150 INR per person. At the fort, we indulged in some local street food like Paneer Tikka and Jalebi, which were absolutely delicious.

- Khalsa College
On the third day, we visited Khalsa College, about 5 km from our hotel. The college’s architecture is awe-inspiring with its grand Indo-Saracenic design. Also, walking around the campus, we felt a sense of pride and admiration for the institution. The entry fee for Indians to visit was 10 INR per person.
- Hall Bazaar
For our final stop, we went to Hall Bazaar (around 2 km from Khalsa College by autorickshaw). This bustling market is perfect for shopping. Despite it being our last day and having a train the next day, we made the most of our time. Moreover, we bought some traditional Punjabi juttis, phulkari dupattas (for my mother), and souvenirs. We also tried some famous street foods like Chole Bhature and Pani Puri here, which were mouthwatering.
