- Day 1: Arrival in Lucknow
The day began with anticipation and excitement as I embarked on my journey from Ahmedabad to Lucknow. After a smooth flight, I landed at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in the early evening. As I stepped off the plane, I was greeted by the warm breeze of the city Lucknow. Also, the journey by flight costs Rs. 36,000 for three people.
- Day 2: Exploring Lucknow’s Attractions and Shopping
Today was a day filled with exploration and excitement in Lucknow. I began by visiting some of the city’s famous attractions. Starting with the Chhota Imambara, known for its stunning architecture and historical significance. From there, I made my way to the picture gallery, where I marvelled at the exquisite artwork on display.
Next on the list was the majestic Clock Tower, followed by the iconic Rumi Darwaza, both of which left me in awe of Lucknow’s rich heritage.
Also, I visited the Bada Imambara, a grand structure steeped in history and grandeur, before heading to the Teele Wali Masjid to admire its intricate design and craftsmanship.
After a morning of sightseeing, I made my way to the bustling Chowk Market, famous for its wholesale Chikan shops. Here, I indulged in some Lucknowi Chikan Kurta shopping, immersing myself in the city’s vibrant culture and traditions. We also had dinner at Hons-all-day dining on MG Road at Hazratganj (a bustling street lined with cafes and branded stores).
Pro tip: Entry fee for attractions: Buy a combined ticket for Rs. 50 per adult, which includes entry for Chhota Imambara, Bada Imambara, Picture Gallery, and Shahi Hamam.
- Day 3: More Sightseeing and Delicious Treats in Lucknow
Today was another exciting day in Lucknow as I set out to explore more of its attractions. First on my list was the British Residency, a historic site with a fascinating past. I also visited the Chhatar Manzil, known for its striking architecture, and the Saadat Ali Khan Tomb, steeped in Mughal history.
After a morning of sightseeing, I treated myself to the famous Prakash ki Mashoor Kulfi and then street shopping in Aminabad. As the afternoon rolled around, I couldn’t resist trying Lucknow’s famous Basket Chat for Rs. 250 and Dahi Bhalla at the renowned Royal Cafe.
- Day 4: Lucknow’s Adventure of Culture, Cuisine, and Charm
Today, I ventured to some attractions that were a bit farther from each other but worth the journey. First, I visited La Martiniere College, a historic institution known for its impressive architecture and rich legacy.
Then, I made my way to Dilkusha Kothi, another fascinating site with a storied past, offering a glimpse into Lucknow’s history.
After a morning of exploration, I stopped for lunch at Masaki Couture Cafe, where I enjoyed a delicious meal amidst a cosy atmosphere. Energised and refreshed, I also spent the evening leisurely strolling through Hazratganj.
For dinner, I dined at The Hazelnut Factory, savouring delectable dishes in a charming setting. Also, it was the perfect way to end another memorable day in Lucknow.
Must Know: I visited hidden gems like Dilkusha Kothi, Farhat Baksh Kothi, and General Wali Kothi.

The Best Time to Discover Lucknow’s Charms:
The winter in Lucknow, from November to February, is when the city truly shines. Also, the weather is cool and comfy, perfect for diving into Lucknow’s culture, history, and yummy food. It’s the best time to soak up all the charm and beauty the city has to offer.
Necessary things to pack:
- Warm clothes for winter, a scarf, or a cap to cover your head for when you visit the Islamic monuments.
- Also, keep a water bottle and snacks with you.
- Likewise, carry sunscreen and sunglasses with you.
Tips for travellers:
- Good hotels are quite far from the major attractions, so we booked a great homestay very near the Sachivalaya Metro Station.
- Also, the Metro is extended to the airport, so it is very convenient to get to the city from the airport. It took only RS.30 to get to my homestay from the airport.
- Likewise, if you are a vegetarian, MG Road at Hazratganj is the best place to dine. It has several cafes and many good restaurant options.
- Even taking an auto or an e-Auto is very convenient and a great option to go around the city.
- Moreover, visiting in the winter season is preferable.
