Hello, I am Kajal Verma, and I am thrilled to share our recent family trip to the serene lands of Uttarakhand. In the vibrant season of spring, my family of four embarked on a three-day journey with a modest budget of 30,000 rupees. Our destination was a harmonious blend of religious sanctity and beautiful mountains, offering a perfect retreat from our bustling lives. We set out on April 15, 2023, eager to explore the natural and spiritual treasures of this enchanting region.
Day 1: Discovering Sahastradhara’s Natural Wonders
Our adventure began at Sahastradhara, a haven known for its stunning waterfall and ancient caves. As we wandered through the area, we were captivated by the intricate formations within the caves, each telling a story of the Earth’s history. The serene ambiance of Sahastradhara left us in awe, and we found ourselves completely immersed in its natural beauty.
To reach Sahastradhara, we hired a cab that cost us 8000 rupees. The journey was comfortable and allowed us to take in the scenic views along the way.
Day 2: Spiritual Tranquility at Rishikesh’s Ganga Ghats
The next day, we headed to the sacred city of Rishikesh, where the Ganges River flows with divine grace. Strolling along the Ganga Ghats, we felt a deep sense of peace and spirituality. We visited several temples nestled in the mountains, each offering a unique glimpse into the region’s rich cultural heritage.
For our stay, we chose Hotel Sky King, which cost us 2000 rupees per day. The hotel provided a cozy and comfortable refuge after our day of exploration. We enjoyed meals at local stalls, savoring the famous mountain Maggi for 60 rupees and dining at Bistro Nirvana, which offered a delightful culinary experience.
Day 3: The Thrill of River Rafting
On our final day, we sought adventure with a thrilling river rafting experience. The rush of navigating the rapids brought laughter and excitement to our family, creating unforgettable memories. This exhilarating activity cost 300 rupees per person and was worth every penny.
Challenges and Tips:
One of the challenges we faced was managing our time effectively to cover most of the attractions. However, we learned valuable lessons along the way. Here are some tips for anyone planning a similar trip:
- Avoid the Rainy Season: For safety’s sake, steer clear of mountain trips during the monsoon.
- Practical Packing: Essentials include sunscreen, water bottles, and sturdy sports shoes to ensure comfort and protection.
- Transportation: We used a mix of public transport, which was budget-friendly, and cabs costing 100 rupees per head for local travel.
Budget Breakdown:
- Cab to Sahastradhara: 8000 INR
- Local travel: 100 INR per head (approximately 400 INR total)
- Accommodation: Hotel Sky King (2000 INR per day)
- Total Dining Cost: 6000 INR
- River Rafting: 300 INR per person
- Snacks, souvenirs, and additional activities: 3000 INR
