Hello fellow travel lovers, Prashant here !!!
I am thrilled to share my recent trip to Auli with you all. Often underrated but easily comparable to popular destinations like Manali and Shimla in terms of beauty and tranquillity, Auli left a deep and lasting impression on me. Nestled in the lap of the Garhwal Himalayas, Auli is a perfect blend of natural splendour and serene landscapes, making it a hidden gem worth exploring.
Whether you’re an adventure enthusiast or looking to unwind amidst nature, Auli has something for everyone.
Travelling from Prayagraj-Haridwar-Joshimath-Auli

Our adventure began with an overnight train journey from Prayagraj to Haridwar. Also, we departed at 9 PM and arrived in Haridwar at 11 AM the next morning. Moreover, the train tickets cost ₹1200 per person.
From Haridwar, we took a bus to Joshimath, with each ticket costing ₹850. Also, the bus ride was long and tiring, and we made several stops for meals and refreshments along the way. By the time we reached Joshimath, we were quite exhausted but excited to start our journey.
The highlight of our journey was the cable car ride from Joshimath to Auli. Moreover, the experience was breathtaking as we soared above valleys and forests, forgetting our fatigue while soaking in the majestic views.
Arrival in Auli and Ski Resort Adventure
Upon reaching Auli, we checked into Hotel Shailja & AD Continental Restaurant, which charged us ₹3000 per night. Also, we immediately headed to Auli Ski Resort, nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas. Moreover, the resort’s picturesque setting and perfect skiing slopes greeted us warmly.
- Day 1: A Day of Snow and Slurps in Auli

We rented trekking equipment—snow boots, trekking poles, and jackets—at approximately ₹500 per person for the day. We couldn’t resist building snowmen and skiing for the first time. Also, gliding down the slopes with friends surrounded by towering peaks and dense forests was exhilarating.
After a day of adventure, we enjoyed a hot cup of Maggi made with our portable kettle. Moreover, the combination of Maggi and stunning mountain views made it taste even better, creating memories we’ll cherish forever.

Must know: Trek equipment costs ₹2,000 (₹500 per person for skiing equipment).
- Day 2: Trek to Gurso Bugyal and Visit to Chenab Lake

The next day we started on a trek to Gurso Bugyal, a pristine meadow surrounded by oak and coniferous forests. The hike offered panoramic views of the Himalayas and the valley below. As we walked along scenic trails, we immersed ourselves in nature’s tranquillity, pausing occasionally to capture the beauty around us. Gurso Bugyal rewarded us with breathtaking vistas, making the trek unforgettable.
Later, we visited Chenab Lake, a serene spot nestled amidst lush greenery. The tranquil lake reflected the azure sky and surrounding peaks, providing a perfect atmosphere to relax and connect with nature.
