Welcome to explore my thrilling adventure to Chandrashila with a group of friends. Nestled amidst the majestic Himalayas, this is an experience you’ll cherish for a lifetime. This 5-day itinerary offers breathtaking vistas and soul-stirring moments, all while keeping your budget in mind.
Day 1: Route from Delhi to Chandrashila
On day one, we began our journey from Akshardham Metro Station in Delhi at 9:00 p.m. After a quick dinner stop after Meerut, we headed towards Devprayag, where the Ganga and Alaknanda rivers meet. Also, around 8:00 am, we took a break here, visiting Rudraprayag and Dhari Devi Mandir along the way. By lunchtime, we had reached Chopta, the starting point for our trek.
Day 2: Stay and Relax in Chandrashila
Upon reaching Chopta, we’re welcomed with delicious Buransh juice and set up camp surrounded by nature. Take in the breathtaking Himalayan views and snap some photos. In the evening, indulge in a tasty dinner, then get briefed by our trip leader on safety and tomorrow’s trek plans.
Day 3: Started with a trek to the most famous attractions of Chandrashila
After breakfast at the campsite, we start trekking around 9:00 a.m. We walk through beautiful scenery, entering the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, a green meadow. After a challenging but fulfilling 4-hour trek, we arrive at Tungnath Mahadev, the world’s highest Shiva temple at 12,106 feet, part of the Panch Kedar pilgrimage. Also, we pray, move on to Chandrashila, and finally reach the summit at 13,050 ft. The breathtaking views of Nandadevi, Trisul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch, and Chaukhamba peaks leave us amazed. After capturing these mesmerising views, we descend to Chopta for dinner and rest.
Day 4: Say goodbye to the Chandrashila
We wake up early, have breakfast, and head to Deoria Tal, a peaceful lake in the Himalayas. It’s a 2-hour trek from Sari Village. We enjoy the calmness of this beautiful spot, reflecting the Chaukhamba peaks. Afterwards, we go back to Sari Village and start our overnight journey back to Delhi, arriving early in the morning.
Best time to visit Chandrashila:
The ideal time for the Chopta Chandrashila trek is from April to June and September to November when the weather is nice and the paths are visible. It’s best to avoid July and August because of the chance of landslides during the monsoon.
Necessary things to carry:
- Pack warm clothes, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and a first-aid kit.
- Also, carry a water bottle and snacks while travelling.
