Hello travel lovers,
Jammu, often referred to as the ‘Gateway to Heaven,’ is a city that beautifully blends natural beauty, spirituality, and history. As a solo traveller, I embarked on a journey to explore this fascinating city, nestled in the northern part of India. Also, it turned out to be an experience of a lifetime. From ancient temples to scenic landscapes, Jammu offers a rich cultural tapestry that promises to mesmerise any traveller.

My solo adventure began in September; this is the best month to visit Jammu. Furthermore, I set off on my bike to explore the scenic beauty of Jammu.
Day 1: A Scenic Start in Jammu

I first visited a local school, renowned for its unique location that required crossing two rivers on foot. The journey to the school was not only challenging but also rewarding, offering a glimpse into the daily lives of the local children and the rural landscape.
The trek itself was an adventure, with the sound of flowing water and the sight of lush greenery enhancing the experience. After the enriching visit to the school, I headed to the Buda Amarnath Temple. Also, this serene temple is set amidst tranquil surroundings, providing a peaceful and spiritual retreat. Moreover, the calm and quiet of the temple allowed me to reflect and connect with the serenity of the place.

Day 2: Snowfall in Rajouri

The second day of my journey took me to Rajouri, a town known for its picturesque scenery. I rode through the winding roads, surrounded by the natural beauty of the region, until I reached Rajouri.
Also, a delightful surprise greeted me—snowfall. The snow blanketed the ground and covered the trees, transforming the landscape into a winter wonderland. The sight of the white snow against the backdrop of the mountains was mesmerising.

I spent the day exploring the local sights, enjoying the snowy vistas, and the thrill of riding in the snow added a unique charm to my journey. Moreover, Rajouri’s local attractions and the serene atmosphere made this day one of the highlights of my trip.
Day 3: Discovering Poonch and the Pakistan Corridor

On the third day, I set off for Poonch, a region near the Pakistan corridor. I enjoyed scenic views and felt a sense of anticipation during the drive to Poonch. Also, this area is known for its cultural diversity and historical significance, offering a blend of influences from both India and Pakistan. In Poonch, I explored the local markets, which were bustling with activity and filled with a variety of goods.
I bought some souvenirs to remember my trip, including local crafts and textiles. Moreover, the market was a vibrant place, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region.
I spent the day soaking in the local culture, interacting with the people, and enjoying the unique atmosphere of Poonch.

During my trip, I stayed at a hotel for 800 INR per night. Although I can’t remember the hotel’s name, it was simple yet comfortable, making it a great base for exploring. Also, the food was a highlight, with a mix of restaurant meals and street food offering delicious local flavours. Moreover, I especially enjoyed the street food, which provided an authentic taste of Jammu’s culture.
