Salutations, voyagers! My name is Akshit, and I’m delighted to share the best of the experience of my three-day visit to Kasol with my dearest companion. Kasol has been on my wish list for a long time, and visiting it was like a soulful treat. Join me!!!
Route to Kasol from Delhi
On Day 1 of our trip, we took a Volvo bus from Delhi’s Kashmiri Gate to Barshaini. The bus ticket costs from Rs. 1,300 to Rs. 1,900, depending on the class and tourist rush.
It’s worth noting that one can only travel by bus to Barshaini and not to Kasol, as buses don’t go beyond Barshaini. Hence, one has to hire a taxi that costs around Rs.400 for the trip.
Accommodation in Kasol:
- We checked into Parvati Valley Camp for the night, which cost us around Rs. 300–400 per person.
- At Tosh, we stayed at a hostel named Whoppers in a six-bunker room for Rs. 900 per person per night.
- We booked a homestay for Rs. 2,000 per person at Rasol for our final day.
Places to visit in Kasol:
- Day 1: Exploring Kasol Market
We first visited the Kasol market, which is an incredibly vibrant and happening place. One can find many bakeries, handcrafted items, and plenty of momo stalls here. After exploring the market, we checked into Parvati Valley Camp for the night. The camp is situated in front of the River Parvati and has a stunning scenic view with a cafe as well. We also enjoyed the bonfire at night.
- Day 2: Visiting Tosh
We had breakfast at the Evergreen Cafe and then left for Tosh. Some distance was covered by bus, which cost us Rs. 50 per person, and the rest of the distance was trekked. At Tosh, we stayed at a hostel. The view from the hostel’s balcony was breathtaking, and we relished pizza, pasta, and momos on the balcony while enjoying the view and socialising with the other four people staying there. After taking some rest at the hostel, we visited a renowned cafe named Panctara situated in the Kasol market.
- Day 3: Exploring the Parvati River
We’ve booked a homestay in Rasol for our last day. While trekking, we had the Parvati River on one side and the jungle on the other side. The trek was exhilarating and eventful; we came across Israelis selling warm buns with butter on them. We also saw numerous hippies enjoying nature during our trek. When we finally arrived at the homestay, we had omelettes and spent some time near the river. We then visited the Kasol market and bought souvenirs for our friends and family, such as diaries and bags made from hemp.
When our trip was finally over, we took a bus back to Delhi, which is easily accessible in Kasol.
Best time to visit Kasol:
Every season brings with it a fresh set of spectacular views for travellers to be amazed by as Kasol changes its weather. Snowfall falls in Kasol in December, January, and February, transforming the area into a wintry paradise. Kasol and the entire Parvati Valley are blanketed in luxuriant green trees that are illuminated by sunshine by July. Autumn arrives in October and lasts until December when the same scenery changes to tones of orange and brown. You now have the choice of which Kasol hues you want to explore!
Necessary things to pack:
- Pack lightly because you will have to walk and trek a lot; you don’t want a heavy bag weighing you down.
- Carry cash with you all the time; do not rely solely on UPI, as there is no network in many places.
- Carry an umbrella with you and winter clothes because when it rains, it gets quite chilly.
Travel Tips:
- It is prohibited to take photos or record recordings of residents without their consent.
- For uncommon climbs and treks, make sure you work with a qualified Kasol guide.
- Avoid leaving trash behind! Keep the area tidy, and only dispose of waste in the appropriate trash cans.
- Give your vacation at least a month or two’s notice. Since Kasol is a famous tourist destination, there is very little chance that you will have a pleasant stay if you wait to make your reservation.
Overall, my trip to Kasol was unforgettable, and my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! I hope you do too!Searching for captivating travel adventures? Visit https://sowl.in/stories for breathtaking accounts! Safe travels and happy exploring, everyone!
