New Delhi to Mount Abu Retreat: Travel and Accommodation

We took the Rajdhani Express from New Delhi at 8 PM and got to Mount Abu at 5 AM the next day. The train ride was comfy, and the train tickets cost 2000 INR per person, so for 4 people, it totals 16,000 INR for a round trip.
Also, we took an auto from the station to our hotel, Hotel Mount Regency, which is close to the city centre and cost us 3000 INR per night. After checking in and freshening up, we had a great breakfast at the hotel and then went out to start our exploration. Moreover, the hotel stay is 3000 INR per night for 2 nights, which comes to 6000 INR.

Day 1: Exploring temples and the famous lake of Mount Abu

- Dilwara Temples: Famous for its beautiful marble design and detailed carvings, it’s an important Jain pilgrimage site. Also, we enjoyed some local street food nearby. The temple’s amazing craftsmanship and peaceful vibe were impressive.
- Nakki Lake is a calm, man-made lake with hills and temples around it, and you can go boating there. A pedal boat for 30 minutes costs about 400 INR for everyone. Furthermore, we had a relaxing boat ride, enjoyed the views, and felt the cool breeze. The place was peaceful and refreshing.
- Guru Shikhar: It is the highest point in the Aravalli Range and gives a great view of Mount Abu and the area around it. Moreover, the view at sunset was amazing, and it took some time to enjoy the scenery and take photos.

Must Know: To travel from the hotel to Dilwara Temples, you can take an autorickshaw. Auto fare is approximately 500 INR. Also, from Dilwara Temples to Nakki Lake, you can either take an autorickshaw or walk, as it’s a short distance. Moreover, to get from Nakki Lake to Guru Shikhar, you can use an auto rickshaw or a taxi.
Day 2: Nature’s Canvas and Wildlife Encounters

- Sunset Point: A great place to watch the sunset over the Aravalli Range. Also, we relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful colours in the sky, and the view was magical.
- Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary: A place with lots of plants and animals, with trails and wildlife sightings. It costs 300 INR per person. Moreover, we walked through the sanctuary, saw various animals, and enjoyed the peaceful setting.
- Toad Rock: A rock formation that looks like a toad, giving wide views of the area. Climbing Toad Rock was fun, and the view from the top was perfect for photos.
Must Know: To go from Sunset Point to Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary, an autorickshaw is a good option. Also, to travel from Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary to Toad Rock, you can use either a taxi or an autorickshaw.
Planning a Mount Abu getaway with tips for travellers
- Best Time to Visit: February to June and September to December. Also, pleasant in summer and cold in winter with occasional snowfall.
- What to Pack: Warm clothes, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, a camera, and a small backpack.
- Plan Your Day: Start early to avoid crowds.
- Stay Prepared: Bring snacks and water for hikes and trails.
- Respect Local Customs: Be mindful of local traditions.
- Boating at Nakki Lake: Check the timings in advance. Also, entry fees and boating cost about 1600 INR.
In total, the budget for four people for the trip to Mount Abu is approximately 30,000 INR. Our trip to Mount Abu was amazing. We loved the beautiful Dilwara Temples and enjoyed boating on Nakki Lake, and the sunset from Guru Shikhar was stunning. Also, exploring the wildlife sanctuary and climbing Toad Rock added some adventure.
