Hello, travel lovers! Hitesh, this side!!!
As a travel lover, I love to explore all the amazing destinations. This time, I picked up an amazing destination nestled in the green hills of Karnataka, Coorg. You know that Coorg, also known as Kodagu, is a paradise waiting to be explored. In the starting of this journey I expected to see the rich cultural heritage and unforgettable food experiences. Join me on this journey to see the beauty and charm of Coorg through my lens.
Day 1: Route from Bangalore to Coorg
I started my journey from Bangalore to beat the traffic by taking the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway (NH275) route, which is the most common and fastest route to Coorg. While en route to my destination. On my way I stopped by many places, one was the Ramanagara for breakfast and Srirangapatna for a quick visit to the Ranganathaswamy Temple.
After a long day, I finally reached the hotel- Go Stop Coorg, spent the whole evening exploring the surroundings, taking a leisurely walk, and visiting a nearby viewpoint. For dinner, local Coorgi cuisine was tried at nearby restaurants.
Day 2: Exploring Coorg’s Best Places to Visit
The next day, I set out to explore the famous Abbey Falls, which was a beautiful sight of an adventurous mountain stream cascading over a rock face. Enjoying the waterfalls, the next stop was Madikeri Fort which was 8 km from Abbey Falls, a historical landmark with a museum and beautiful views of the town.
After immersing myself in the history and grandeur of the fort, I had a good lunch at a local restaurant in Madikeri, in every bite of Pandi Curry (pork curry) and Kadambuttu (steamed rice dumplings), I felt connected to the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Just after a satisfying lunch, my heart led me to the enchanting Raja’s Seat, where every corner whispered tales of ancient kings and a garden offering scenic views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
In the evening, explore the local market in Madikeri, which has beautiful and artistic pieces of souvenirs and handicrafts. Later, in the night, returning to the comforting embrace of my hotel, I relaxed for a couple of hours and then had a tempting dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Day 3: Visiting the Hidden Gems of Coorg and Departure
On my last day in Coorg, I planned to explore the hidden gems of the city. I started with a visit to Chelavara Falls, which is relatively less crowded compared to Abbey Falls but equally beautiful.
As the day unfolded, I eagerly made my way toward the Dubare Elephant Camp. My heart filled with excitement as I went to do great interacting with elephants and had the privilege of bathing them, each splash of water echoing with laughter and joy. It was a fun activity that filled my heart with love. After a great adventure, I felt very hungry and decided to have lunch at a local eatery nearby as the smell of the street food attracted me.
Just after a hearty lunch, I made a quick stop at Namdroling Monastery in Bylakuppe, one of the largest Tibetan settlements in India. After that, I continued my journey back to Bangalore, aiming to reach it by late evening. The memories of Coorg lingered in our hearts.
