Getting to Gorakhpur: Your Travel Guide

We chose to travel by train, departing at 10 p.m. and arriving in Gorakhpur at noon the next day.Also, the train ticket cost us 450 INR per person.
Comfortable stays in Gorakhpur:
Upon reaching Gorakhpur, we checked into Hotel SBD, which cost 1300 INR per night. Also, after settling in and enjoying a hearty breakfast, we set out to explore the city.
Day 1: Exploring Spiritual and Cultural Sites in Gorakhpur

- Gorakhnath Temple
Our first destination was the Gorakhnath Temple, dedicated to Guru Gorakhnath. Also, this temple know for its spiritual significance and stunning architecture.Moreover, the serene atmosphere was captivating, and we indulge in some delicious street food, including chaat and pakoras, right outside the temple.
- Vishnu Temple
Next, we visited the Vishnu Temple, this temple is known for its tranquil environment and intricate architecture. Also, we spent some time exploring the peaceful surroundings and appreciating the temple’s beauty.
- Geeta Vatika
Our final stop for the day was Geeta Vatika, a serene garden dedicated to Lord Krishna. Also, the garden is beautifully maintained and houses a temple within its premises. Moreover, we savoured more local street food, including samosas and jalebis. Likewise, the peaceful ambience of Geeta Vatika made it a memorable experience.

Day 2: Embracing Nature and History Gorakhpur

- Kushmi Forest
We started our morning with Kushmi Forest, a dense area full of nature. We took a walk and enjoyed the greenery and fresh air. Also, the forest is perfect for bird watching and taking nature photos.
- Ramgarh Tal
Next, we visited Ramgarh Tal, a big and beautiful lake. Also, we took a boat ride on the lake, which gave us great views of the area. Moreover, the calm environment and amazing sunset made our visit special. Likewise, the boat ride costs 100 INR per person.
- Buddha Museum
Our last stop of the day was the Buddha Museum. We saw many artefacts about Buddhism and learned about Buddha’s life and teachings. Also, we explored the exhibits and learned about the history of the area. The entry fee was 50 INR per person.

Must know: We travelled to Gorakhpur by autorickshaw, enjoying the scenic countryside along the way.
Tips for travelling to Gorakhpur
- The best season to visit Gorakhpur is during the winter months (October to March), when the weather is pleasant. Summers can be extremely hot, so it’s advisable to avoid visiting during peak summer.
- Also, essential packing items include light clothing, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and a hat. Don’t forget your camera to capture the beautiful moments.
- Moreover, for transportation, use local autorickshaws or cycle rickshaws for short distances.
- Likewise, when it comes to food, for an authentic experience, try local street food, ensuring it’s from a hygienic source.
Must know: The total budget for three people includes INR 2,700 for train tickets for a round trip, INR 2,600 for a two-night hotel stay of ₹1,300 per night, INR 2,000 for food and snacks, INR 1,000 for local transportation, and INR 500 for entry fees and miscellaneous expenses, totaling approximately 9,000.
