Hello travel enthusiasts! Utkarsh is here!!!
I am your travel partner and here to guide you about a heavenly place on earth, Kashmir. Recently, I planned a trip to Srinagar with some close friends. Time flew by during these five days. We set out in mid-December, excited for our adventure.
The next day, we packed our essentials and hit the road by car. After a long day’s drive, we finally arrived in Srinagar. Also, the travel expenses amounted to 8,000 INR, which covered the cost of car fuel and tolls.

Unveiling Srinagar’s Serene Accommodations:
First, we found a cool houseboat hotel called Movie Land, right by Dal Lake. This meant amazing views all around. We asked nicely for the best room with a view, and they hooked us up.
Also, we got the best room with the most amazing view for just 1500 INR a night. Since it was late, we ordered dinner, enjoyed the view, and went to sleep. The next day, our adventure began.
Moreover, the estimated cost for a 4-night trip was 6,000 INR, and for food, it was 5,000 INR.
Things to do in Kashmir: A 5-Day Adventure
- Dal Lake
Our first stop was Dal Lake. The boating there was unforgettable, and it cost 600 INR per hour. We took a Shikara ride and enjoyed the stunning views of the lake, floating markets, and mountains. Also, we tried local delicacies like Kashmiri Kahwa and Rogan Josh, which added to the charm of our visit.

- Gulmarg
After enjoying Dal Lake, we drove 51 km to Gulmarg from Srinagar. Gulmarg is known for its snow-capped mountains and skiing. We took a gondola ride, which cost us 700 INR. Also, it is one of the highest cable cars in the world, and I had fun playing in the snow. Moreover, the natural beauty of Gulmarg was breathtaking.

- Pahalgam
The next day, we left Srinagar for Pahalgam, a beautiful hill station 140 km away. Lush meadows and a sparkling river greeted us. Also, we rode horses and wandered through the stunning Betaab Valley; the entry fee was 100 INR. Pahalgam’s peaceful atmosphere was a perfect escape from the city’s noise.

- Sonamarg
We left Pahalgam and drove 79 km to Sonamarg. Nicknamed “Meadow of Gold,” Sonamarg was amazing! Snow mountains and glaciers everywhere, just like paradise. Also, we trekked on the Thajiwas Glacier, which was super exciting. Moreover, the entry fee was 500 INR.
- Aru Valley
From Pahalgam, we took a short trip (102 km) to Aru Valley. It was beautiful and peaceful, a great place to relax. Also, we even tried some yummy local food—Kashmiri bread and kebabs.

- Kokernag
After Aru Valley, we headed to Kokernag, about 70 km from Srinagar. Also, it had beautiful gardens and cool springs, making it super peaceful. The whole place was gorgeous and calm—a trip to remember.
- Martand Sun Temple
Next, we visited Martand Sun Temple, only 65 km from Srinagar. This super old temple is famous for its amazing design, even though it’s mostly ruined now. Also, it was incredible to see such a grand and historic place.
- Laal Chowk
After the temple, we went back to Srinagar in the evening, which was 5 km. We hit up a famous market called Lal Chowk. Also, it was fun shopping for spices, dried fruits, and those beautiful Pashmina shawls. We even grabbed some yummy street food—rolls and kebabs!
- Shalimar Bagh
The last stop was the Mughal Gardens, also called Shalimar Bagh, which were 15 km away. They had an entry fee of 10 INR for Indian citizens. The gardens were amazing, full of pretty plants and water fountains. It was a peaceful and beautiful way to end our trip.
