Welcome Devotee Explorers! Nandita is here!!! Embarking on a journey to Vaishno Devi Bhawan was not merely a travel plan for me; it was a spiritual vibe that I had longed to undertake. We went on a 3-day trip to Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, with six friends.
Also, Katra is known for its stunning scenery and spiritual atmosphere, serving as the starting point for the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage. Our journey was filled with exploration and excitement as we visited Vaishno Devi Bhawan and discovered the secrets of the area.
Sacred Journey Route to Vaishno Devi Bhawan:
As I stepped off the train in Katra, the bustling town at the foothills of the Trikuta Mountains. Later, we decided to indulge in street food rather than eating at restaurants. Also, the local cuisine, priced at Rs. 200, was delicious and got us ready for our adventure. After dropping off our bags at the cloakroom, we eagerly set off on our trek to Vaishno Devi Bhawan.
The trek had its tough parts, but it also showed us stunning sights. Also, we walked through green hills and bubbling streams, enjoying nature at every turn. With our group’s support and a common goal, we kept going with determination.
The trek begins at Vaishno Devi:
When we arrived at Vaishno Devi Bhawan, we felt a deep calmness. Also, we prayed and asked for blessings, feeling the temple’s sacred atmosphere. Moreover, we stayed in a free dormitory on the temple grounds, ready to rest.
Divine Hidden Gems in Vaishno Devi:
The next day, we went to uncover Katra’s hidden treasures. Following rumours about a magical river called Sain Sadh Dhara, we started our adventure. Also, the trek there was refreshing, with each step connecting us deeper with nature. Moreover, the soft sounds of the river and the rustling leaves made a beautiful melody that touched our hearts.
After exploring the markets of Katra, we returned to Vaishno Devi Bhawan. In the evening, we stayed at the cosy Mahamai Dharamshala, which cost us Rs. 1500 per day.
We also visited the highest point in Katra, which was breathtakingly beautiful. Also, there was no entry fee to go up, but there was one for boating, which we skipped due to time constraints. Moreover, we mostly got around by rickshaw to nearby spots. I’d suggest packing essentials like a raincoat, slippers, and sunscreen for the trip.
Departing Katra: Grateful for the Blessings and Memories of Vaishno Devi:
As our time in Katra came to an end, we said goodbye to this magical place, taking with us the blessings of Vaishno Devi and the cherished memories of our journey. As we took the train back home, we felt grateful for how Katra had changed us for the better.
The best time to visit Vaishno Devi:
Vaishno Devi welcomes pilgrims all year round, yet the prime time for the journey is from March to October. Also, during these months, the weather is pleasant, making the trek more comfortable. However, the Navratras, a nine-day Hindu festival, witnessed a surge in visitors, drawing the maximum number of pilgrims to seek the blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi.
My pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi Bhawan had been a transformative journey, one that had left an indelible imprint on my soul.Searching for captivating travel adventures? Visit https://sowl.in/stories for breathtaking accounts! Safe travels and happy exploring, everyone!
